Coach Rod Crider sent us the following update on the Boys' Varsity Golf team.
The WHS Boys Varsity golf team continued its strong performance this past week with three convincing home match victories. First, on Monday 9/16, the team completed its first undefeated CHL regular season since 2006 by crushing both Madeira and Finneytown. The final score of the match was Wyoming 150, Madeira 187 & Finneytown 244. Senior Henry Moore led the team with a 2 under par 34. Senior Chris Betagole shot 38, sophomore Sam Marty and senior Michael Montgomery both shot 39 as the Cowboys posted their best 9 hole match score of the season.
On Tuesday 9/17, Wyoming defeated Elder @ Wyoming Golf Club by the score of 159 – 179. Senior Henry Moore and sophomore Sam Marty led the team, with matching 2 over par 38’s. Finally, on Wednesday 9/18, the Cowboys took down Loveland, one of the top teams in division I this year, by a score of 155 – 162. Junior Stephen Cholvat was match medalist with a 1 over par 37.
The team’s record currently stands at 20 wins and 1 loss. The team has one final regular season match this week on Monday versus St. Xavier before beginning post season play at the Division II Sectional Tournament on Thursday 9/26 @ Sharon Woods. The CHL Championship will be held on Saturday 9/28 @ Weatherwax Golf Course in Middletown
