Psyched for Soccer

Summer is right around the corner which means it is almost soccer time! On Saturday, April 30th, members of the Men’s and Women’s soccer program participated in a PK contest against Mason HS at halftime of the FC Cincinnati game in front of 11,300 people!!! The Cowboys, represented by Emily Dudek, Ashley Wilson, Lauren Metz, Sean Madden, and Annabelle Steiner, emerged victorious with a 4-2 shootout against the Comets. All four kickers buried their shots in the back of the net and goalkeeper Lauren Metz came up with a big save!

If that doesn’t get you fired up for the season, then just a reminder that the Men’s and Women’s soccer programs will put on their 3rd annual joint camp June 6th-9th from 9-11am at the high school. You can find the registration form included here, but walk-ups are also welcome. Go Cowboys!

Calling All 8th Grade Girls Soccer Players!

Any 8th grade girl interested in playing soccer at the high school in the fall should plan to attend a brief informational meeting Wednesday, March 23rd at 6:15pm in the High School Cafeteria. Please bring one parent or guardian with you!

Enquirer and Tri-County Press Fall All Stars

Volleyball
Player of the year:Haley Stewart: The second-team all-state middle blocker/right-side hitter led the Cincinnati Hills League with 301 kills and added 157 digs. She was a first-team all-district selection and was named the CHL athlete of the year.

First team
Maddie Bahr: The libero was third in the CHL with 401 digs and a first-team all-district selection.

Mia Kraft: The honorable mention all-state setter led the CHL with 785 assists with a robust 10.47 per-game average and added 239 digs. Kraft was also a first-team all-district selection.

Lydia Kurtz: The second-team all-district outside hitter was 12th in the CHL with 119 kills and added 109 digs despite missing the first eight matches.

Reagan Raymer: The second-team all-district right-side/outside hitter was fourth in the CHL with 223 kills and ninth in the league with 271 digs.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Haley Stewart: The 6-foot-2 middle blocker/right-side hitter was a CHL leader with 301 kills, 100 blocks and 157 digs. Stewart made CHL first team for league champion Cowboys.

Maddie Bahr: Libero made CHL first team and had 401 digs for the CHL champs.

Mia Kraft: The Cowboys setter was CHL first team. She had 70 kills, 785 assists and 239 digs for the league champions.

Football
OL: Eric Perry: The senior was second-team all-district.

LB: Tucker Berger: The senior was second-team all-district. He had 127 tackles in the regular season.

DB: Mason Rogers: The senior was special mention all-state and first-team all-district. He had 30 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions and three pass breakups in the regular season.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Tucker Berger: Linebacker was second in the Cincinnati Hills League in tackles with 127 in the regular season. Berger added 15 more tackles in the Cowboys’ playoff game. He also had a sack and two fumble recoveries and was first-team All-Cincinnati Hills League.

Jake Edmonds: Edmonds was sixth in the CHL in receiving yard with 28 catches for 378 yards and nine touchdowns. He also ran for 92 yards and a score, had 23 defensive tackles and averaged 11.8 yards on punt returns and 15 yards on kickoff returns. Edmonds was first-team All-CHL.

Eric Perry: The 6-foot-3 265 pound two-way lineman was first-team All-CHL, leading the offensive line and adding a pair of tackles on defense.

Mason Rogers: The receiver/defensive back was first-team All-CHL. He had 13 receptions for 251 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 222 yards and two scores. Defensively, he had 46 tackles and two interceptions. He also averaged 26.6 yards on kickoff returns.

Justin Shields: Shields was the second-leading rusher in the CHL with 1,343 yards and 20 touchdowns. Out of the backfield he had eight catches for 139 yards and a score. Shields made CHL first team.

Whitley Elsass: The junior came in 25th at the regional meet with a time of 19:57.5.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Whitley Elsass: Elsass was the CHL Runner of the Year and had the second best time in the league with a 19:46.70 at the CHL meet. Wyoming was sixth at the Division II regional meet at Troy with Elsass finishing 25th in 19:57.5.

Danielle McKee: McKee was CHL first team and had the third best time in the league with a 20:11.50 at the CHL meet. McKee finished 39th at the Division II regional meet in 20:31.3.

Cullen O'Brien: The senior placed 44th at the regional meet with a time of 17:08.6.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Cullen O’Brien: O’Brien had the fourth best time in the league with a 16:45.40 at the CHL Championship to make CHL first team. O’Brien was 44th at the Division II regional meet at Troy in 17:08.6.

Andrew Derge: A second team all-Ohio selection and first team all-CHL pick. He led the CHL with 23 goals.
Jay Klein: Named second team all-Ohio and first team all-CHL alongside Derge. Klein led the CHL in points (69) by scoring 21 goals with 27 assists; the latter ranked second in the city.

Ethan Wayman: The goalkeeper had 9.5 shutouts and was selected first team all-CHL.

Andrew Derge: Forward/midfielder was second in the CHL in scoring with 52 points on 23 goals and six assists. Derge was CHL first team.

Tristan Kovach: Midfielder was ninth in the CHL in scoring with 11 goals and nine assists to make CHL first team.

It Pays to Wait

Yeah, we're pretty excited too!

Rod Apfelbeck has been slogging through his backlog and has recently released two great sets of pictures.

We now have shots from the Thursday, October 22nd game Girls Soccer post-season tournament 1-0 win against Monroe (HERE) and from Football's 20-28 loss to Reading on Friday, October 23rd (HERE).

We Were Treated to Great Seasons, And It's Not Over Yet

Like the best Halloween dark chocolate, AD Jan Wilking has some bittersweet news to share.

Congratulations to our girls’ soccer and girls’ volleyball teams who finished their seasons this past week at District Runner-Ups.  Both programs had tremendous seasons and should be very proud to once again be in the top 32 programs in the state of Ohio.

Congratulations to our girls’ cross country team who finished 6th in regionals on Saturday in Troy.

She also has the some make-your-teeth-hurt super-sweet news to share.

Boys’ soccer continues their quest for a trip to the state finals, winning on Saturday night 4-0 over Kenton Ridge.  We play on Wednesday night at 7pm at Wright State University in the regional semi final game (top 16 teams in the state) vs. Columbus Bishop Hartley.  All tickets are $7.

Football earned a third consecutive trip the state playoffs.  We take on Indian Hill on SATURDAY night at 7pm at Indian Hill.  Tickets will go on sale at school in the athletic office on Wednesday at lunch.  All tickets are $8.  GET YOUR TICKETS EARLY as we will only be given a portion of the total tickets available.  No passes are accepted for this state playoff game.  Parking will be an issue at the game on Saturday so plan to arrive early to Indian Hill.  Additional parking will be available on Drake Road and at Indian Hill Elementary School.  Carpooling is encouraged.  There will be a student spirit bus leaving Wyoming at 5:45pm on Saturday.  Tickets for the bus are $2 and MUST BE BOUGHT IN ADVANCE at lunch starting Wednesday.  Follow @WyomingSports on Twitter for more ticket updates and information as it becomes available.

Congratulations to our girls soccer team on a huge (3-2) victory last night (Tuesday, October 27) over the defending state champions!  We play on Thursday (October 29) at 7pm vs. Oakwood for the District title.  

The address of the game site is 506 Dayton Ave Xenia, OH 45385 – the stadium is NOT at the high school.  

All tickets are $6.

The Girls Varsity Soccer team whipped Talawanda 7-0 in the first round of the post-season tournament.  I'm expecting a report to roll in here at some point.  Until then, enjoy these gems from Rod Apfelbeck.

Plan Your Week

Several Wyoming teams are still alive in post season play.  Here is update of events this week:

Girls Soccer:  Monday 7pm at Kings High School vs. McNick.  Sectional finals (top 64 teams in Ohio).  All tickets $6.  Winner plays on Thursday (10/29) at 7pm at Dayton Wayne High School for District Finals.

Boys Soccer:  Tuesday 7pm at Milford High School vs. McNick.  Sectional final.  All tickets $6.  Winner plays.  Winner plays Saturday (10/31) site and time TBA.

Girls Volleyball:  Saturday 6pm at Trent Arena (Kettering Fairmont High School) in District Finals (top 32 teams in Ohio) vs. the winner of Shawnee/Tipp City.

Cross Country:  Saturday Girls at 11:45 and Boys at 2:15 at Troy, OH Hobart Arena.  Wyoming girls won the District race on Saturday lead by Whitley Elsass and followed by Danielle McKee, Riley Bahr, Lily Parker and Emily Wood.  Cullen O’Brien qualified for regionals on the boys side.

Football:  We host Deer Park on Friday night at 7pm.  It is senior parent night for all our fall student athletes and band members.  A victory on Friday would give the Cowboys a good chance to earn a second consecutive playoff berth.  We would travel to another area high school for a first round game on Saturday, November 7th at 7pm.  Playoff information will be available next week.

Shining on Senior Night

Wednesday, October 14th, was Senior Night for the Girls Soccer team.  The team closed out their regular season with a big 8-0 win over Deer Park leaving them with an 8-6-1.

The Great American JV Novella

After a rough start, the JV Girls Soccer team has had a great October.  Channon House-Longman and Jennifer Counts give us the scoop.

Oak Hills vs. Wyoming
We knew we were in trouble in the September 30th JV Girls Soccer game when Oak Hills scored within the first 20 seconds, and then had 3 quick, unconverted shots, saved by Freshman Goalie Sarah Woodruff.  Wyoming fought hard, and challenged Oak Hills every step of the way.  Greta Warmbier led the first Wyoming charge down the field, but the Oak Hills Goalie was able to scoop up the ball before a shot could be taken.    Ava Schuler placed a nice corner directly in front of the goal, which was subsequently cleared by Oak Hills.     Then Lauren Longman had a pretty turn to stop yet another Oak Hills charge.    Wyoming held Oak Hills until 15 minutes in, when they had a break-away run and nice shot increasing their lead to 0-2.   Next there were several opportunities by the Cowboys that were cleared by the Oak Hills girls.  Goalie Sarah Woodruff had a great save, followed up by a hard shot just off the outside of the goal bar by Ava Schuler with 33 seconds left in the half.

The Cowboys continued aggressive play for the second half and prevented Oak Hills from scoring again.  Freshman defender Maegan Burck had a long shot at the 40 yard line; it was off goal, but so much fun to see.   Ava Schuler scored off a free kick with less than 15 minutes in the game.  In the end,  Wyoming fell to Division 1 Oak Hills 1-2.

McNicholas vs. Wyoming
We knew we were in trouble…. wait, isn’t that how the last game’s write-up started?    It did . . . .  anyway, the October 5th, JV Girls Soccer game vs  McNicholas was the toughest the team had played this year.   In warm-ups, superstar Freshman Goalie Sarah Woodruff took a hard ball to the head and needed to be evaluated for a concussion prior to returning to play.   Fortunately, the JV coaches had a secret back-up goalie in the wings and Freshman Lauren Longman, normally a Midfielder, stepped in as Goalie with barely any warning or warm-up.  In the first 5 minutes, Goalie Lauren Longman had 3 saves – 1  a very high shot, she just managed to pull down, way over her head, the other a nice hard shot to the corner, the third an easy one to the corner (whew).     McNick’s dominance continued; in the first half McNick had 6 on goal shots, and 10 off goal shots and the ball rarely made it past the 50 yard line into McNick’s defensive territory.    The Rockets had spectacular throw ins . . . several from the sidelines to well past the center of the field.  The Wyoming defense had a spectacular team-effort to clear many, many shots.    Wyoming pushed back against this strong team, starting with a corner by Ava Schuler, which led to two solid shots by Isabelle Jones – the second just inches over the goal.  With just 20 seconds left in the half, McNick took a picture perfect corner and scored off a header near the far post, top of the net.

The Rockets continued to dominate possession and shots in the second half, but the Wyoming team pulled together and had more chances.  The Rockets scored 10 minutes into the second half and then almost immediately again off a corner (and yet another header), bringing the score to 0-3.   The Wyoming defense was anchored by Sophomore Isabelle Jones, who had several nice take-aways and prevented any additional scores.     A tough loss, against a tough team.    McNicholas over Wyoming 3-0.

Wyoming vs. Reading
The JV Girls Soccer team triumphed over the Reading Blue Devils on October 7th.  The Cowboys dominated possession and shots during the match and Sarah Woodruff was back in goal after sitting out the last game.  It’s been a while since the girls played on a grass field and it took some time to prepare for the random bounces the ball took.     Within the first 5 minutes Wyoming had shots from Ava Schuler, Allie Trenkamp, Maddy Counts and Ambar Alvarez-Garcia.     The shots continued, we saw several nice crosses from the Wyoming Midfield (Ambar Alvarez-Garcia, Lauren Longman, and Erica Hill), and we knew a goal was on its way.  The first Wyoming goal was scored by Lydia Hock after several touches off a corner kick put in play by Maddy Counts with about 5 minutes remaining in the first half.  The Cowboys got to practice our throw-ins with Sydney Kuhn and Maegan Burck both taking several during the match (10? 20? 30!)

The second half, the Blue Devils applied more pressure, but it was insufficient.  There were some changes to the line-up and Caroline Meis moved up from defense to an offensive position.  The second half saw many shots from the entire offensive line; Hannah Stoppenhagen, Annah Saladonis, , Isabelle Jones and Caroline Meis added their names to the shot list.  Wyoming’s second and final goal was scored by Allie Trenkamp off a corner by Caroline Meis.    Congratulations go to the defensive line,  goalie Sarah Woodruff was granted the right to touch the ball only twice during the game.   The game is recorded as a win for the Cowboys, 2-0.

Wyoming vs. Amelia
The JV girls soccer game versus the Amelia Barons started quickly on October 12th with a shot on goal by Maddy Counts.   The Barons fought back quickly and were the most physical team we faced this season (we aren’t used to seeing so many girls bouncing around), but Karma kicked in and the Cowboys were able to defend the shot.   Sam Rathbone bounced back as expected.   Next up, a foul was called against Amelia, for roughing up Ava Schuler.   Caroline Meis took the direct kick, it was beautiful, but the Cowboys were not able to score.    The first half saw many solid plays, from Lydia Hock’s cross in front of the goal, to a pretty header from Allie Trenkamp to Amber Alvarez-Garcia, but the Cowboys just could not score.  Amelia came back down the field, with a ‘bit’ of a push to Caroline Meis, leading to a break-away, saved by Goalie Sarah Woodruff.     With just under 4 minutes left in the half, Wyoming charged back with a goal from Maddy Counts that popped into the net out of the goalie’s reach.   1-0 Cowboys at the end of the first half.

The second half started off quickly, with the Cowboys matching the physical play of the Barons and the Baron’s earning a direct kick at Wyoming’s 40 yard line – it was a beautiful kick, by their top notch center defender, fortunately just off goal.   Maegan Burck had a hard fought clear, the Barons earned a corner.    The  ball came in fast and hard from the corner, but fortunately hit the top of the goal.  Wyoming continued to dominate shots and possession in the beginning of the second half, with a nice steal  from Maegan Burck, a quick, shot from Hannah Stoppenhagen, a bicycle kick from Allie Trenkamp and a fun ‘back kick’ towards goal from Greta Warmbier.  Wyoming earned a corner at the 23rd minute, taken by Maddy Counts.   Off the corner, Lauren Longman had two on-goal shots in less than 30 seconds, the first stopped by defense crowding the box, the second scooped by the Amelia goalie (who had several saves during the match).   More entertainment towards the end of the game with Meredith Ogle, Anna Saladonis, Lauren Longman, Allie Trenkamp and Maddy Counts with spectacular steals, Sarah Woodruff with another great save, Isabelle Jones may have been mugged, and a beautiful goal line cross to Ambar from Allie.  In the last minutes the tide started to turn, with the Baron’s pushing down the field hard, earning a corner kick.    With 28 seconds left, the Barons had a solid corner kick, which flew past the center of the goal, we all held our breath, but it went straight to Hannah Stoppenhangen.   Hannah quickly cleared to ensure the win.    Wyoming with the win 1-0.

The Shut Out

Jeff Evans reported from the Girls Varsity Soccer team's Saturday September 26 game against Anderson.

Just seconds after the initial kickoff, the Cowboys swiftly moved the ball down the field just outside the right side of the Anderson penalty area. From about 25 yards out, Senior Forward, Emily Rush collected the ball, shot, and scored over the out stretched arms of the stunned Redskins Keeper to give Wyoming a 1-0 lead. Wyoming Girls Varsity Soccer Head Coach, Lauren Gruber, had to be pleased with the high level of energy and quick results the Cowboys posted versus her former high school Alma Mater. Just moments later, Junior Forward, Annabelle Steiner sent a strong, straight, shoulder height, corner kick into the box. Timing her run perfectly, Junior Midfielder, Jasmine Evans, glanced a full speed running header inside the near post past the Anderson Defense for the second Cowboy goal of the match.

Just moments after the second half kickoff, the Cowboys continued to control possession and drove the ball down the left side of the pitch.  Freshman Forward, Elly McCullumsmith played a great ball into Junior Forward, Casey Jervier. With her back to the goal, Jervier received the ball with one slight precise touch to her right and fired a laser of a shot with her left foot into the back of net making the score Cowboys 3, Redskins Nil.  Then about half way thru the second half, Jervier gathered the ball around midfield in front of the Anderson bench.  Showing her dynamic ability, Jervier sprinted down the right side, dribbling the ball, while outrunning the Redskin back-line, to get a nice final touch and finished her shot past the Anderson Keeper for her second goal of match.  Wyoming's overall defense was stellar and helped Junior Keeper, Lauren Metz, earn her first shut out victory of the season as the Cowboys won 4-0.  The Wyoming fans had a lot to cheer about as they were treated to some great teamwork and highly skilled play by the Cowboys !!!

Nine to Nuthin'

The Girls Varsity Soccer team routed Finneytown 9-0 on Wednesday, September 30th.

A September of Soccer

Our sincere apologies to the hard-working Wyoming girls’ varsity soccer team and coaching staff for the lack of production by your designated Roundup reporters.  Our love of watching you play has not transferred to writing promptly about your efforts.  Here is our attempt at catching up along with a renewed dedication to be more attentive to our duties as this season heads toward your long run in the State tournament!

Taylor – September 9 – Win 6-1
After a tough loss to Indian Hill, the Cowboys were looking for a win and they found one on the road at Taylor.  Switching to grass for the first time this season, the team handled it well and routed Taylor 6-1.  Kayla Hampton, Ellie Mccullumsmith, Chelsea Davis and Jasmine Evans all contributed to the score.  Lauren Metz and her stalwart back line held Taylor to few shots and one hard fought goal.

Summit Country Day – September 12 – Loss 0-2
The Cowboys finished a four game road trip against the talented and tough Lady Knight team.  The Cowboys worked well in the first half.  Casey Jervier had a score stolen by Summit’s quick thinking back who sprinted to cover after the goalie came out to challenge.  After the scoreless first half where possession was divided on both sides of the field, Summit’s quick forwards broke through and forced their first goal.   The Lady Knights broke through again minutes later for a second score and played fantastic defense to hold Wyoming scoreless.

Mariemont – September 16 – Tie 0-0

The Cowboys hosted the Lady Warriors as they hoped to stay in the race for the CHL title.  A preseason scrimmage at Mariemont resulted in a 2-0 victory, so the Cowboys felt they had an early read on the Lady Warriors.  Mariemont brought their A game with them and kept  Wyoming’s scorers in check.  On the other side of the ball, Lauren Metz continued her great rookie season and worked with her back line to keep Mariemont’s scoring opportunities to a minimum.

Madeira – September 24 – Loss 1-2

The Cowboys hit the road again to challenge their CHL rival, the Lady Amazons of Madeira.
Kayla Hampton sat out for the contest with an injury, so Coach Gruber had to make some adjustments in the lineup and formation to minimize the loss.  Madeira struck first with a strong goal, but Casey Jervier shook off a few defenders to bring the score even at half.  The contest continued back and forth until Madeira scored their second and winning goal.  It was a heart breaking defeat for the Cowboys.

The Wyoming Cowboys Girls JV Soccer team has a solid win over the Madeira Amazons on Thursday, 9/24.   The Cowboys graciously played 8 vs. 8, as the Amazons roster was limited due to injuries.      This act allowed the Amazons to have 3 substitutes for the game, and ensured a more equal playing field.     The Amazons had control of the field the first half, challenging the Wyoming defense again and again.     The Wyoming Defenders, as usual, were up to the challenge.    Sophomore Isabelle Jones had a nice shot just off goal.   The second half started with a quicker pace and stronger pressure from the Cowboys.   The Wyoming Offense demonstrated solid pass combinations noted between Maddy Counts, Ambar Alvarez-Garcia, and Lauren Longman, as well  Annah Saladonis, Allie Trentkamp and Ava Schuler.   Allie Trenkamp had a nice run, beating 2 defenders, then taking an unconverted shot, which was immediately followed up by Annah Saladonis - the  Amazon Goalie had a nice save.     Maddy Counts, and then Meredith Ogle followed up with two quick unconverted shots.   The tide was turning, Wyoming had control.  With just 2.5 minutes left in the game, Ava Schuler was fouled just outside the Amazon penalty box.   Ava quickly took the awarded direct kick for the first goal in the game; a beautiful, near post shot.    After another foul, Ambar Alvarez-Garcia scored the second goal of the game with just 37 seconds left (assist by Ava).     Wyoming over the Amazons, 2-0.

Cowboys vs. Division 1 Anderson
On Saturday, 9/26 the Girls JV Soccer Team took on the tough Division 1 Anderson team.    The game started quickly and was conducted at a fast pace for all 90 minutes.   Early in the first half, Freshman Maddy Counts places a picture perfect arc, that slammed hard into the crossbar and was deflected.   The  Anderson team countered quickly, but was cut-off by Freshman Caroline Meis.   20 minutes in Freshman Lauren Longman sent a ground ball into the penalty box, splitting the defenders neatly.   The ball was successfully scooped by the goalie a minute second before Wyoming could tap it in.    11 minutes to go in the half had Anderson with a free kick, then a two consecutive corner kicks.    Freshman goalie Sara Woodruff stopped the onslaught, and Wyoming ended 0-0 at halftime.       Anderson came out fighting, with a corner and then two solid shots, both saved by Sarah Woodruff.      Wyoming countered with another pretty shot from Maddy Counts, but the score remained 0-0.      15 minutes in Anderson earned another corner, which was quickly cleared by Sophomore Erika Hill.     Freshman Lauren Longman had a long shot with a wicked bounce from the 30 yard line minutes later, but was unable to slide the bounce past the quick Anderson goalie.     With just 10 minutes to go, goalie Sarah Woodruff had yet another save, followed by an Anderson corner cleared by Sophomore Ambar Alvarez-Garcia.    The fast paced game ramped up, the crowd was cheering with excitement - Wyoming had 3 Corner kicks (Maddy Counts) in a row, the first two cleared out of bounds by Anderson defenders, the last had a nice headshot from Freshman Allie Trenkamp – just missing the goal.      Sophomore Erika Hill had a fantastic feed down the field, but the run was stopped by an overly aggressive Anderson player (yellow carded) who slammed and flipped Maddy Counts as she sprinted down the field.    Game resumed with a quick hard shot by Sophomore Hannah Stoppenhagen.  Goalie Sarah Woodruff had 3 more consecutive saves.  Both teams played hard, putting on an exciting show for the large home crowd.   The JV Girls soccer game ended in a tie, 0-0, but what  a show.

A Hard Fought Loss

Jennifer Counts reported for the JV Girls Soccer team.

The JV Girls Soccer team faced the Indian Hill Braves on Sept 21.  It was a beautiful night for soccer.  The Cowboys took an early lead in the first few minutes when Hannah Stoppenhagen scored off a corner kick.  The corner was put in play by Maddy Counts and redirected by Annah Saladonis.  The Cowboys dominated possession and shots on goal much of the first half.  While questioned even by the Indian Hill coaches, the Braves were awarded a goal off a free kick right in front of the penalty arc that bounced off the cross bar.  This brought the score to 1-1 at the half (we need goal line technology . . . ).

Indian Hill requested the game continue 10 v 10 for the second half (due to a conflict for one of their players and very few subs); the refs also added a water break.  The Braves slowed down the pace of play during the second half.  The Cowboys continued to lead in shots on goal and possession, but were not able to finish.  In an unlucky series of events, the Braves scored again in the final minutes.  The game goes down as a loss for the Cowboys with a final score of 1-2.

Warriors Over the Cowboys

The Wyoming JV Girls soccer team fought valiantly against the high pressure team of Mariemont on Sept 16.     The game was filled with shots from both teams (Warmbier, Schuler, Alvarez-Garcia for Wyoming).    The first 30 minutes were rather calm, with both teams playing at a steady pace.   Unfortunately, with just minutes to go in the first half, Mariemont scored off a free kick ending the half at 0-1.     The Wyoming girls came back strong in the second half.  The last 10 minutes of the game were very exciting with the Cowboys having two direct kicks due to fouls that Maddy Counts put in play.   These generated several shots, but none made it to the net.   The game ended at 0-1 with Mariemont capturing the win.
