The Boys Basketball team fell 53-59 to Woodward in the first round of the Sectional tournament on Saturday, February 20th.

This Weekend in Wyoming Sports

AD, Jan Wilking wraps up the busy weekend for us:

Saturday was a great day to be a Cowboy! Below are the results from a very busy sports weekend and information about upcoming schedule of games.

Girls swimming won sectional championship as a team and the following boys and girls qualified for the District Finals set for Friday at Miami University.

Divers Charlie Donnelly and Ilusha Gerimshuck qualified for the state finals to be held next week in Canton.

Our wrestling team finished 2nd in the CHL championships and will start the road to the state finals on Friday in Batavia. Sophomore Yima Nyamore (138) and senior Justin Shields (160) were both crowned CHL champs in their respective weight classes.

Girls Basketball starts sectional play on Thursday at 6pm at Withrow vs. New Richmond. Tickets are on sale in the athletic office for $6 presale and Wyoming receives a portion of the ticket revenue. Tickets are also available at the door for $7.

Boys Basketball

Tuesday, February 9th
JV
After Reading JV had an 18-16 lead, the Cowboys outscored them 26-6 in the second half to eventually win by 16. (40-24 Wyoming final). Leading scorers were Eli Cupp (12), Moe Mitchell (11) and Miles Smith (10). Miles also led the team with 6 rebounds.

VARSITY
No contest as the Cowboys hit on 10 of their 17 3 pointers, including 5 of 7 for Lonnie Grayson, on way to his game leading 24 points. The reserves played most of the final quarter, but no reserve hit the scoring column as an easy 72-30 win was recorded.

Saturday, February 13th
FRESHMAN

By the pictures, it looks like the Freshman fell to Indian Hill 24-12.

JV
While the JV team was just edged out 44-47 by Indian Hill.

VARSITY
The Varsity team was having non of it. They routed Indian Hill 70-44 to become CHL co-champions with the Braves. Need more details? Check out the Scott Springer article (and even some video) in Cincinnati.com HERE

Boys Basketball

Senior Night
Tuesday, February 2nd was Senior Night for the Cheerleaders and Boys Basketball team. We have some pictures to share. If you want to refresh your memory of the actual game, check out our previous post HERE.

Varsity
Friday, February 5th
The most exciting game of the year as the Cowboys eked out a 2 point victory over an ambitious Finneytown team. Down by 2 with 8.2 seconds remaining, Finneytown's Delshon Watson hits a 3 pointer to go ahead. Unfortunately for them, their coach called timeout a second before the shot, enabling Wyoming to win by 2 and go 15-4 on the year. Final 46-22 Wyoming.

JV
The JV team once again scored 57 points against Finneytown, this time 57-28. The first game was 57-37. Moe Mitchell had the hot hand, scoring 23 and going 5 for 5 from 3 point range.

Secure Your Place in History

Saturday night (2/13) we will play boys’ basketball vs. Indian Hill at 4:30/6/7:30pm. This is a make up game from the non snow event a few weeks ago. This game will in all likelihood be for the conference championship and therefore it will be a packed house. Few items for everyone to know about tickets and passes….

Our gym seats 750 people. Indian Hill has 225 tickets to presale starting on Monday. We will have the balance of tickets to presale starting on Monday at lunch. We will accept Booster passes at the door however, if and when we reach 750 people in the gym we will not allow any additional people to enter the gym due to fire code even with a Booster pass.

GET TO THE GYM EARLY IF YOU WANT A SEAT. Taping blankets or seat savers during the 4:30 and/or 6pm game will NOT be permitted.

Tickets are $6 adults and $4 for students.

Boys Basketball

Tuesday, February 2nd SENIOR NIGHT
VARSITY
It took 5 minutes and 17 seconds of the first quarter before Madeira, unable to penetrate Wyoming's strong defense, got it's first shot at the basket. Highlights were Lonnie Grayson's 19 points and Mason Roger's 10 rebounds, all in the second half. Cowboys win by 16 (44-28

JV
By far, the lowest scoring game of the year as Madeira inflicts a second loss on our JV team, 26-14. Halftime score was only 10-4, Madeira ahead, as only Miles Smith and Moe Mitchell each record a single field goal.

Boys Basketball-REVISED

Varsity
Tonight, Tuesday, February 2nd, is Senior Night for the Boys Basketball team. They've showed up for you for four years. Now it's your turn to show up for them. The game against Madeira starts at 7:30.

January 29th
The Varsity again took Mariemont at home on Jan. 29 with an easy 74-46 win, the second consecutive game in which reserves played the entire fourth quarter. Lonnie Grayson scored 27 and led the team in rebounds with 6. Greatest crowd pleaser was Mason Roger's second slam dunk of the year on a steal at mid court.

Junior Varsity
A loser in the final seconds when the JV played at Mariemont, a much improved Mariemont team easily recorded a 52-43 score over Wyoming. Miles Smith continues to play well, scoring 12 and sharing the rebounding leadership with Eli Cupp with 5 each.

Freshman
The freshman also played Mariemont. Results and stats I do not have. Great pictures I do.
