Where Do We Stand

The JJHuddle Ohio High School Football State Power Polls have the good guys ranked 8th.  Did you notice that was a state poll and not a poll of high schools in the tri-community area.  8th in the state is great.  What's even better is that now there are 7 teams who will never see it coming.

Want to see it in real life?  The team opens up the Bob Lewis Stadium at Bernie Barrie Field Friday, September 4th.  They host Taft for their first home game of the season.  Before the game, show up early for the Wyoming Athletic Boosters WHS Spirit Kick-Off Event starting at 5pm.  The pre-game event will be held in the municipal lot off of Springfield Pike, near the tennis courts and right next to the football stadium.  Festivities will include a live band, a spirit wear table, an autograph session with some WHS varsity teams and athletes, and good food for purchase, with proceeds going to the Wyoming Athletic Boosters Association, who supports both middle and high school athletics. We encourage you to bring a salad or side-dish to supplement what will be offered for sale at the grill.  The event is open to all ages and the first 300 attendees will receive a free spirit towel to bring to the game!  Additionally, recognition and prizes will be given at halftime of game for the most spirited team at the kick-off event, judged by group attire and enthusiasm.

Pre-Season Coaches' Polls

The Cincinnati.com Pre-season Coaches' Polls are out:

Girls Soccer
The Cowboys are ranked 3rd behind 1st place McNicholas and 2nd place Indian Hill and ahead of 5th place Taylor and 6th place Mariemont

Boys Soccer
The Cowboys are ranked 1st above 4th place Indian Hill and 7th place Mariemont

Girls Volleyball
The Cowboys are ranked 1st above a tie for 2nd place between Alter and McNicholas, and 4th place Indian Hill

Girls Golf
The Cowboys are ranked in a tie for 3rd with McNicholas behind 1st place Indian Hill, and ahead of 5th place CHCA and 6th place Cincinnati Country Day.

Boys Golf
The Cowboys are ranked 10th behind 3rd place Maderia, and 4th place Indian Hill.

Girls Cross Country
The Cowboys are ranked 1st ahead of Alter, Madeira and Mariemont in a three-way tie for 2nd, and 5th place Taylor, 6th place Taylor, and 9th place Finneytown.

Boys Cross Country
The Cowboys are ranked 1st ahead of 2nd place Indian Hill, 4th place Taylor, 5th place Mariemont, and 6th place Madeira.

Girls Tennis
The Cowboys are tied for 2nd place with Seven Hills behind 1st place Indian Hill and ahead of 9th place Madeira and 10th place Mariemont

Power of the Poll

Did you see our Admired Director AD, Jan Wilking's tweet about the Boy's Varsity Soccer team's ranking in the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association State Poll?  The Cowboys are sitting in 9th place.  The only other Cincinnati DII team to crack the top 10 was McNick who is holding the 6th place.

Top-Ten In Tennis

Coach Plattenburg reported the terrific tennis news.

 

In the final State Coaches Poll, the Boys Varsity Tennis Team moved up to 8^th in State in the Division 2 Tennis rankings. This marks the 5^th year in a row the Varsity Boys have accomplished a top-10 tennis ranking.

Where Do We Stand?

Here's a run-down of the Cowboys' standings in the Ohio Coaches' Pre-Season Polls as found on the Enquirer website.

The Baseball team comes in at 5th, behind CHL rival Madeira who is sitting in 1st.

Boys' Tennis is also ranked 5th, but just behind the CHL's Indian Hill in 4th.

Boys' Track is in 2nd, while the CHL's North College Hill is ranked 1st.

Girls' Track ranked 7th, with CHL rival Taylor still in their sights at 5th.

The Softball team and the Lacrosse teams weren't shown any love.  I guess that means it'll be that much sweeter when they crush all comers.

Volleyball Showdown Re-Scheduled

The Enquirer's Week Four Division II Coaches' Poll shows Wyoming Volleyball in first, with Saturday's opponent McNick right behind them in second.  I received word from AD Scott Kaufman that the game times have been changed.  The JV now plays at 11:00 and the Varsity plays at 12 Noon.  This promises to be a great game.  Make sure you come out and show the girls your support as they show McNick why we are #1.

The girls are 17-3.  They have losses against Indian Hill (2) and Badin.  Those two schools are ranked #1 and #2.
