Mmmmm... Pancakes

HOLD THE DATE for the
Wyoming Youth Services
Pancake Breakfast
This year’s breakfast will be celebrating the arrival of spring with a fun Under-the-Big-Top theme, at the Civic Center on March 12th (8-11:00 am).  This marks the 15th year for this much loved and anticipated community event. There will be great musical entertainment, a wandering magician, fun games for the kids, great silent auction and raffle items and, of course, the best pancakes in town.  They are the best because they are made by dedicated volunteers that give their time year after year to help Wyoming Youth Services continue it’s mission: Strengthening our Community through Volunteerism, Prevention, and Support.

Wyoming Youth Services is as a non-profit social service agency dedicated to strengthening the Wyoming community through volunteerism, prevention, and support.  Last year, the lives of nearly 800 youth and their families were enriched through our programs that provide student volunteer opportunities (Service Learning), mentoring, tutoring, life skills education, counseling, and crisis intervention. All programs are provided free of charge to Wyoming residents. Charitable contributions from the community, School, and City, as well as fundraising efforts play a vital part in supporting our mission.

Not a fan of fear?  Love candy?  Then make sure to come early as the first hour on the haunted trail is a non-scare hour where the actors just give out candy.  How sweet is that?  (See what I did there.)

Not a fan of candy for dinner?  Love food and love food you didn't have to make for yourself even more?  The rumor is that there will be two, count them, yes, TWO food trucks at the event - U-Lucky Dawg, and Harvest Cuisine, so there should be something for everyone!

Check- in begins at 8:00 a.m., with the race starting at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of Worthington and Beech. The course winds through the village of Wyoming streets.

Well, You Did It. Thank You!

Howling Pooch Parade
It was a fabulous fall day for the Wyoming Youth Services Howling Pooch Parade this year at the Wyoming Civic Center.  Two and four legged friends of all sizes came out to support Wyoming Youth Services for this Annual event on October 26th. Attractions including an agility demonstration by Hamilton County Dog Club, a balloon artist, temporary tattoos, and bake sale to keep everyone entertained until the parade started at 2:00pm. The event raised over $3,300 for Wyoming Youth Services.

Run for the Kids
Despite bitterly cold temperatures, runners and walkers of all ages came out to participate in the 3rd Annual Run for the Kids on November 1st.  This fun costume run supporting Wyoming Youth Services was held at the Wyoming Recreation Center directly before the Haunted trail.   A record number of participants arrived, bundled up for the race, and a few brave and festive runners wore their Halloween costumes despite the cold!

Myles Pringle, age 17, came in first place overall with a time of 21:45.  The Lenning family swept a few awards of the evening as “best group” costume “The Incredibles” and Patty Lenning came in first in her age group.   The Snowden family had a night of “firsts” as they each ranked first in their age groups.  Austin Snowden was 1st place male at the middle school, Julia Snowden came in 1st place female at the high school, and Jason Snowden was the 1st male for Adults to age 50.  George White, President of the Board of Trustees of Wyoming Youth Services, went all out as “Superman” to receive “Best Individual” in the costume category.  The event raised over $4,300 for Wyoming Youth Services.
Thanks to Wyoming Youth Services and Julie Jones for the information and pictures.

Many M's are Magical, or My Sickness on Display

If you've paid the slightest bit of attention you've likely noticed my affinity for alliteration and assonance (I'd include consonance, but, you know, the non-'A' sound at the beginning.)  Saturday, November 8th was a banner day for me.  I was on assignment (full disclosure:  on assignment as in my wife said, "You better be there to take some pictures") at the Matthew 25 Ministries Fighting Hunger 5k where I caught a few Cowboys.  There was the Matchless Middle School Mentor Ms. Moriarty and her Mother.  That's Multiple Moriartys!
Then I saw two Middle School Mini Mini-Marathoners.  There was a Miller
and a Mennone.
Were you there too?
Send us your pictures, we'd love to share them.  And if you're an M... oh, boy!
