Middle Schoolers Battle at Bethel Tate

Middle School Wrestling Coach Grunenberg reported for the team:

On Saturday, the Middle School Wrestling team wrestled hard at the Bethel Tate M.S. Wrestling Tournament. Everyone wrestled at least four matches in one day, and three wrestlers brought back medals.  Will Wolber (7th) took fourth in the 150# class. Kaleb Williams (8th) took third at 122#. Ashton Lindy (7th) placed second in the 142# division. Isaiah Tidjani (7th) was very close to placing having lost hard fought matches to the champion and 3rd place finisher at 110#.

Chris Izenson (7th) and Logan Weber(8th) were unable to make this tournament, but have been working hard at practices.

The young squad will continue their hard work and success as the season wraps up in their final tournament next weekend.

Middle School Wrestlers Grappled at North College Hill Tournament

The Middle School Wrestling Team competed at the North College Hill Invitational this past weekend. There were 16 teams competing and two of our team members placed. Eight grader Kaleb Williams took 2nd Place in the 122# division, and seventh grader Isaiah Tidjani took 6th Place in the 110# class.  Ashton Lindy, Chris Izenson and Logan Weber also participated. Pape Diallo and Will Wolbers were unable to attend the NCH tourney, but they are part of the middle school team as well.  Following workouts over the winter break, the team will participate in tournaments at Deer Park, Walnut Hills and Hamilton.

WMS Wrestling Team Brings Home Hardware

Coach Dell Grunenberg caught us up on the Middle School Wrestlers.

Congratulations to Yima Nyamor, Ethan Tefs and Micah Unzueta for their performances this past Saturday in the Hamilton Middle School Wrestling Tournament at Garfield Middle School. Micah went 3-1 and took third place in the 128 pound weight class, while Ethan Tefs was Runner-Up taking second place in the 110 pound class. Yima Nyamor won the 142 pound weight class, beating the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers on route to his championship. Jacob Hancock wrestled well earning a 13-0 win over his second opponent, before losing a close decision to the 3rd place finisher in the 122 pound weight class.

The team wraps up it season next weekend (1/25) at the Bethel Tate Middle School Tournament, where the grapplers will look to bring more medals back to Cowboy Country.

Middle School Wrestling Team Looking for NEW WRESTLERS

For any 7^th and 8^th grade boy interested in wrestling this year, it’s not too late to sign-up. There are 16 weight classes so if you weigh 70# or 240#, there is a spot for you.

 

If you have any interest in the team, even if you’re not sure, just come to the High School cafeteria at 3:30pm any day THIS WEEK (11/11-11/15) to talk with Coach Grunenberg and watch a practice.

Middle School Wrestling Team Starts 2013 Strong

From Middle School Wrestling Coach, Dell Grunenburg:

With the holidays behind us, the Middle School wrestling team now begins the heart of its schedule this season. The team, enjoying the most number of student-athletes on the team in years, has already participated in the Summit Country Day tournament, the Oak Hills Duals tournament and tri-meets with Reading/Mason and Summit/CHCA. As well, scrimmages with powerhouses Lakota West and Fairfield have helped the Cowboys get into fighting shape for the event-packed month of January.
To start the new year off, the Cowboys took 2nd Place at the Williamsburg Duals Tournament, finishing with a 4-1 dual meet record. The final round was a hard fought dual against Reading which came down to the final two matches for the championship. Team members leading the charge for the second place trophy include Ben Padnos, Zach Van Fossen, Robbie Trapp, Ethan Tefs, Jacob Hancock, Yima Nyamor, Elijah Kemper, Max Frankel, Joseph Glisson, Noah Pitman, Dylan Revis. Additional teams members include Carl Baker, William Kellner, Rafael Rodriguez, Micah Unzueta, McKenna Dorsey and Grace Furlong.
The Cowboys’ season continues with remaining tournaments at Hamilton (1/19) and Bethel-Tate (1/26), as well as tri-meets with Oak Hills/Harrison and New Richmond/White Oak. The season will conclude with a CHL Open Tournament in early February.
