Ashli O’Neal: The senior was the Cincinnati Hills League player of the year and second-team all-district. She posted 23.2 points per game, 3.3 rebounds and 5.2 steals.

Kayla Hampton, junior:  Hampton was CHL second team for coach Gerry Lackey. She was second on the Cowboys in scoring at 8.5 per game and led in assists with 2.4.

Haley Stewart, senior: Stewart was CHL second team for coach Gerry Lackey. She was third in the league in rebounds with 9.4 per game and third in blocks with 2.9. She finished third on the team in scoring at 7.6 per game and second in assists with Ashli O’Neal at 1.9 per game.

First Team
Lonnie Grayson, Wyoming: The junior was the CHL player of the year for the 18-5 Cowboys who shared the CHL title with Indian Hill. Led the league in steals with 3.2 per game and averaged 5.5 rebounds.

Garyn Prater, Wyoming: Junior was named first-team all-CHL for the Cowboys. Averaged 14.7 points per game and 5.1 rebounds.

Second Team
Jake Edmonds: Junior was first-team all-CHL and led the league in assists with 4.2 per game. He averaged 9.1 points per game and shot 42.1 percent from the field.

Mason Rogers: The senior was the consummate team player and a four-year starter that led the team in rebounding at 6.1 per game. Averaged 5.3 points shooting 51.3 from the field and 54.5 from the arc.

Yima Nyamor, sophomore: Nyamor was first team CHL for CHL Coach of the Year Brian Pitman at 138 pounds. He advanced to the Division II district tournament at Wilmington and was the DII runner-up in the sectional at Batavia.

Justin Shields, senior: Shields was CHL first team at 160 pounds. He advanced to the Division II district tournament at Wilmington and was third in the DII sectional at Batavia.

Noah Pitman, junior: Pitman was CHL second team at 145 pounds. He advanced to the Division II district tournament at Wilmington and was the DII runner-up in the sectional at Batavia.

Luke Kremzar, senior: Kremzar was CHL second team at 170 pounds. He advanced to the Division II district tournament at Wilmington and was fourth in the DII sectional at Batavia.

First Team
Lia Thomas: Junior was CHL second-team on the 400 freestyle relay. At the Division II state meet, she finished 10th in the 50 freestyle, 15th in the 100 free, sixth in the 200 free relay and fifth in the 400 free relay.

Second Team
Becca Prangley: The sophomore was second team all-CHL as part of the the 400 freestyle relay. At the Division II state meet, she finished 16th in the 50 freestyle; sixth in the 200 free relay and fifth in the 400 free relay.

Anne Criddle, junior: Criddle was CHL second team on the 400 freestyle relay. At the Division II state meet she was sixth on the 200 free relay tea and fifth on the 400 free relay.

Lia Thomas, junior: Thomas was CHL second team on the 400 freestyle relay. At the Division II state meet in Canton, she finished 10th in the 50 freestyle, 15th in the 100 free, sixth in the 200 free relay and fifth in the 400 free relay.

Carson Burt: The junior was first-team all-CHL in the 200 and 500 freestyle for the Cowboys along with the 400 freestyle relay. Was on the second-team 200 free relay. At the Division II state meet in Canton, Rutter was eighth in the 100 breaststroke; 14th in the 200 IM and part of the state champion 200 free relay. Was also on the third-place 400 free relay.

Philip Brocker: The sophomore was first team all-CHL on the 400 free relay and second team on the 200 free relay. At the Division II state meet in Canton, Brocker was 15th in the 200 freestyle and part of the state champion 200 free relay. Was also on the third-place 400 free relay and 14th-place 200 medley relay.

Connor Williams: The junior was first-team all-CHL on the 400 free relay and second-team in the 50 and 100 freestyle and 200 free relay. Was part of the state champion 200 free relay at the Division II state championship. Was also on the third-place 400 free relay.

Holden Jurell, sophomore: Jurell was CHL second team on the 200 medley relay. The squad finished 14th at the Division II state meet.

Andrew Derge, junior: Derge was CHL second team on the 200 medley relay.

Charlie Donnelly, junior: Donnelly was CHL second team in diving. At the Division II state meet, he finished ninth.

Ilusha Gerimshuck, freshman: Gerimshuck qualified for the Division II state meet in diving and finished 23rd.

Daniel Tighe, senior: Tighe advanced to the Division II sectional tournament at Colerain
and had a three-game series of 482 with a high game of 185.

SPRING SENIOR ATHLETES AND PARENTS

SPRING SENIOR ATHLETES AND PARENTS:  

On behalf of the Wyoming Boosters Association, please plan to attend the annual Spring Senior Athlete Recognition Night on Wednesday, May 18th.  

This ceremony will take place in conjunction with the WHS Spring Sports Award night, held at the Pendery Center.  

We will begin the evening with our Spring Senior Athlete Recognition program, promptly at 7pm.  Each mother will be presented with a corsage, and parents will accompany their student-athlete to the front of the auditorium. 

This is a special event to commemorate the dedication that both you and your daughter, or son, have shown during their career at Wyoming High School.

Ultimate Wins

From the Ultimate coach, Goerge White:

Wyoming’s varsity Ultimate team ran their record to 2-1 with a resounding 14-5 win over Centerville Sunday.  The senior trio of Jay Klein, Jaden Shapiro, and Joe White again led the way, each accounting for at least seven goals—caught or thrown—but the real story of the game was Wyoming’s impressive zone defense, which repeatedly forced lengthy Centerville possessions ending in turnovers, and taking the game from a 2-3 deficit to a 12-4 lead in a 10-1 run that spanned both halves.  The entire roster of players contributed to the effective zone D.  The varsity’s next game is Sunday at 3 vs. Lakota at the Wyoming Rec Center.

The JV also won its second game, with an 11-3 win over Mason’s JV squad.  Sophomore Elliott Fuller led the way with four scoring throws, two goals caught, and 11 forced turnovers (D’s), while fellow sophomore Victoria Lentz had two goals caught and eight D’s.  The JV has a strong group of sophomores, boding well for the future of Ultimate at Wyoming.


Also in Ultimate news:

Two Wyoming seniors have been selected for the first ever Cincinnati High School Ultimate All Star game, where they will be joined by the best players from the more than 30 schools in the Cincinnati area fielding teams in the local high school league, including two local players who have been selected to play on the US national team in the Ultimate World games in Poland this summer.  Joe White, a first team All State selection last year, and Jaden Shapiro, will represent Wyoming Ultimate in the All Star game.

The game will be played Friday, April 22, at 8 pm at the Seven Hills School turf field, under the lights.  The public is invited, and admission is free.  Further information about the game may be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/798009390329453/.

NEVER to be Outdone

While it was nice to see former Wyoming AD (now at Lakota West), Scott Kaufman named a SWODA AD of the Year, did you see how our own AD Jan Wilking went from 1 home game event (Boys Tennis) on Monday night to 4 home game events (adding Girls Lacrosse, Girls Softball, and Boys Baseball) due to opposing fields being too wet to play on?  And on top of all of that, she even stepped in for a few innings as first base coach for the Girls Softball team.  (They won the game, by the way, 14 to 7 over Norwood.  I'm not saying that the win was due to her being at first base... but I'm not not saying it either.)

A big thanks to Jan for putting in the work to give our athletes a chance to get back into action after the recent rain-outs.

Along with Scott Kaufman, local legend, Dave Dierker with Cincinnati Public Schools, was honored by the SWODA as he earned the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award in recognition of service, special accomplishments and contributions to athletic administration on the local, state, and national levels.

In a move that has High School English teacher Ms. Edmonds doing the Double Dorsey, the Wyoming Athletic Department has received the annual Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association "Award of Excelence".  Yes, I said "Excelence"

From the OIAAA site:

"The award, a collaboration between the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) and the Ohio Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (OIAAA), recognizes schools that provide exemplary support and promotion of education-based athletic programming in their school and community."

"The focus of the award is to recognize on-going and consistent efforts on the part of Ohio interscholastic athletic departments that demonstrate best practice in the endorsement and promotion of education-based athletic programming.  Specifically, this award recognizes schools that demonstrate intentional efforts to shift the culture of school-based sport programs as an on-going process."

Fab Four

Jay Klein, Andrew Derge, Ethan Wayman and Tristan Kovach have been selected by the coaches in Southwest Ohio to the All-Southwest Ohio Team.

This is an very prestigious honor and one that all four players have worked hard to achieve.

As one of the top 12 Senior’s selected, Jay Klein will be playing in the Senior All-Southwest Ohio All-Star Game this Sunday, November 15th. The All-Star game will be played at the Sycamore High School located at 7400 Cornell Rd, Montgomery, OH.

The girl’s All-Star Team and the Boy’s All-Star Team will both be playing and honored on November 15th.

The schedule for the All-Star Games are as follows:

1. The girls game kicks off at 2:30 pm.
2. The  Awards Ceremony will begin at approximately 3:45 pm honoring every All-Southwest Ohio player.
3. The boys game will begin around 4:30 pm.

Admission to the game is $ 5.00/person with children under 10 admitted for free. All all-star game players and All SW Ohio Honorees will be admitted for free.  Game programs will be $1 each.

All-Star Edmonds

Joey Edmonds played in the National Youth Basketball League and of the players on all of the 32 teams he was selected as one of the top 20 all-stars to get invited to play in the East-West game in September.  Read Scott Springer's article at Cincinnati.com HERE

One Last Time

On Sunday, Parker Chalmers represented Wyoming in the East/West All Star game at Prasco Park.  Parker’s West all stars beat the East squad 5-4, scoring in the bottom of the 9th for the win.  Parker was 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored.
