Any girl grade 8-11 interested in girls golf next year should plan to meet in the high school cafeteria on Tuesday, May 17th after school for a brief meeting.

Volleyball
Player of the year:Haley Stewart: The second-team all-state middle blocker/right-side hitter led the Cincinnati Hills League with 301 kills and added 157 digs. She was a first-team all-district selection and was named the CHL athlete of the year.

First team
Maddie Bahr: The libero was third in the CHL with 401 digs and a first-team all-district selection.

Mia Kraft: The honorable mention all-state setter led the CHL with 785 assists with a robust 10.47 per-game average and added 239 digs. Kraft was also a first-team all-district selection.

Lydia Kurtz: The second-team all-district outside hitter was 12th in the CHL with 119 kills and added 109 digs despite missing the first eight matches.

Reagan Raymer: The second-team all-district right-side/outside hitter was fourth in the CHL with 223 kills and ninth in the league with 271 digs.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Haley Stewart: The 6-foot-2 middle blocker/right-side hitter was a CHL leader with 301 kills, 100 blocks and 157 digs. Stewart made CHL first team for league champion Cowboys.

Maddie Bahr: Libero made CHL first team and had 401 digs for the CHL champs.

Mia Kraft: The Cowboys setter was CHL first team. She had 70 kills, 785 assists and 239 digs for the league champions.

Football
OL: Eric Perry: The senior was second-team all-district.

LB: Tucker Berger: The senior was second-team all-district. He had 127 tackles in the regular season.

DB: Mason Rogers: The senior was special mention all-state and first-team all-district. He had 30 solo tackles, 11 assisted tackles, seven tackles for loss, two interceptions and three pass breakups in the regular season.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Tucker Berger: Linebacker was second in the Cincinnati Hills League in tackles with 127 in the regular season. Berger added 15 more tackles in the Cowboys’ playoff game. He also had a sack and two fumble recoveries and was first-team All-Cincinnati Hills League.

Jake Edmonds: Edmonds was sixth in the CHL in receiving yard with 28 catches for 378 yards and nine touchdowns. He also ran for 92 yards and a score, had 23 defensive tackles and averaged 11.8 yards on punt returns and 15 yards on kickoff returns. Edmonds was first-team All-CHL.

Eric Perry: The 6-foot-3 265 pound two-way lineman was first-team All-CHL, leading the offensive line and adding a pair of tackles on defense.

Mason Rogers: The receiver/defensive back was first-team All-CHL. He had 13 receptions for 251 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 222 yards and two scores. Defensively, he had 46 tackles and two interceptions. He also averaged 26.6 yards on kickoff returns.

Justin Shields: Shields was the second-leading rusher in the CHL with 1,343 yards and 20 touchdowns. Out of the backfield he had eight catches for 139 yards and a score. Shields made CHL first team.

Whitley Elsass: The junior came in 25th at the regional meet with a time of 19:57.5.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Whitley Elsass: Elsass was the CHL Runner of the Year and had the second best time in the league with a 19:46.70 at the CHL meet. Wyoming was sixth at the Division II regional meet at Troy with Elsass finishing 25th in 19:57.5.

Danielle McKee: McKee was CHL first team and had the third best time in the league with a 20:11.50 at the CHL meet. McKee finished 39th at the Division II regional meet in 20:31.3.

Cullen O'Brien: The senior placed 44th at the regional meet with a time of 17:08.6.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Cullen O’Brien: O’Brien had the fourth best time in the league with a 16:45.40 at the CHL Championship to make CHL first team. O’Brien was 44th at the Division II regional meet at Troy in 17:08.6.

Lucy Walton: Qualified for the Division II district tournament at PipeStone.

Second Team
Kayla Wilson: Qualified for the Division II district tournament at PipeStone.

Elizabeth Fischer: Qualified for the Division II district tournament at PipeStone.

Cooper Hausfeld: Hausfeld had the top average in the CHL with a 39.43 to be named CHL Golfer of the Year and first team.

Sam Marty: Marty had the second-best average in the CHL at 39.79 for the league champion Cowboys.

Kayla Hampton: was second-team all-state and first-team all-CHL. She had 12 goals and three assists.

Second Team
Casey Jervier: was first-team all-CHL with 16 goals and two assists.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Kayla Hampton: Hampton was seventh in the CHL in scoring with 12 goals and three assists to make CHL first team.

Casey Jervier: Midfielder was Wyoming’s top scorer with 16 goals and two assists. Jervier made CHL first team.


Boys Soccer
First Team
Andrew Derge: A second team all-Ohio selection and first team all-CHL pick. He led the CHL with 23 goals.
Jay Klein: Named second team all-Ohio and first team all-CHL alongside Derge. Klein led the CHL in points (69) by scoring 21 goals with 27 assists; the latter ranked second in the city.

Second Team
Ethan Wayman: The goalkeeper had 9.5 shutouts and was selected first team all-CHL.

Tri-County Press All Stars
Andrew Derge: Forward/midfielder was second in the CHL in scoring with 52 points on 23 goals and six assists. Derge was CHL first team.

Jay Klein: Forward/midfielder was the top scorer in the CHL with 21 goals and 27 assists to make CHL first team.

Tristan Kovach: Midfielder was ninth in the CHL in scoring with 11 goals and nine assists to make CHL first team.


Ethan Wayman: Goalkeeper had 77 saves and nine shutouts for the Cowboys to make CHL first team.

Girls Golf Greatness

The girls finished the regular season on 9/23 with a victory over Princeton at WGC. Medalist honors went to senior Reilly Simmons with a 48. Also scoring in the match were Elizabeth Hughes, Madeline Juergens, and Kayla Wilson. The ladies finished the season with a 12-5 record, one of the best records in years. Congrats to this years varsity, a job well done.

Line The Course

The week of 9/14 saw the varsity girls golf team raise their record to 11-4. They defeated CNE on 9/15 at WGC and then scored a near seasons best score of 183, the best was a 182, vs. Summit on 9/17 at Little Miami. Summit shot 209.
Leading the varsity vs. Summit was senior captain Kayla Wilson, earning medalist honors with her career best score of 42. Kayla was followed by another career best score of 45 turned in by senior Reilly Simmons. Lucy Walton and Sydney Wellman fired 48's. Coach Sheehan says, " these career best scores came after what I think was the best practice of the season."

The Wyoming and Indian Hill girls golf teams will meet on Monday, 9/21 at Wyoming Golf Club in a match that could decide the final rankings in the Enquirer coaches poll. Currently Indian Hill is #1 and Wyoming is #2. Indian Hill defeated Wyoming in an earlier contest but Wyoming is counting on some home course advantage in this rematch.
Both teams will meet again in the sectional tournament on 9/28 at Hamilton Elks.

Matchless at the Mill

Led by the five seniors, Wyoming's Girls Varsity Golf team played its all around best match of the year at the Mill course against Northwest on Wednesday, August 26th. Reilly Simmons was the medalist firing a 46. Libby Fischer and Madeline Juergens followed with 48's and Kayla Wilson added a 50. Next for Wyoming was Sydney Wellman with a 51. Junior Addison Burke shot 54. The total of 192 is best for this season and tied for the best team score in three years. By defeating Northwest, the girls' record is now 6-3 and  the girls are proving why they are currently ranked third in Division II golf in the Cincinnati area.

Interested Playing Girls Golf?

There will be a short meeting on Wednesday, May 20th in the cafeteria for any girl interested in playing golf next year at the High School.

The Condensed Version

Always diligent, AD Jan Wilking provided us with a brief summary of the Fall season.

The Fall athletic season was one of championships!  Wyoming captured Cincinnati Hills League (CHL) Championships in volleyball, boys’ and girls’ cross country, football and for the first time since 1985 – boys’ soccer. Wyoming currently leads in the CHL All Sport Trophy standings.

Our volleyball team earned the #1 seed in the OHSAA state tournament and finished the season 24-2 as District Runner-Ups.  Alexis Tyree was named CHL Player of the Year and Julie Plitt was named CHL Coach of the Year.  Alexis Tyree and Madi Maisel were both named all state.

Our cross country teams won both the boys’ and girls’ CHL and Southwest District Championships.  Our boys’ team qualified for the state finals, finishing 8th.   Travis Glendenning was named CHL Coach of the Year. Ben Stites was named Runner of the Year in the CHL.

Boys’ soccer earned the #1 overall seed in the tournament and finished as District Champions and regional semifinalists.  Steve Thomas was named CHL Coach of the Year.

Girls’ soccer had an outstanding season finishing in the top 16 in the state as District Champions and regional semifinalists.  Coach Lauren Gruber was named CHL and Southwest District Coach of the Year.  Sophomore Kayla Hampton was CHL Co-Player of the Year.

Boys’ Golf won the CHL Tournament Championship.  Both the boys’ and the girls’ team qualified for the District Finals.  Girls were led by all Southwest District player senior Sam Pease. 

Girls Tennis finished 2nd the CHL and showed improvement over the season.

Football stands at 9-1 and Friday night hosts a first round playoff game.  Tickets are on sale now at school!

Fall Awards Night is Wednesday, November 19th at 7pm.

I'm sure there are many more awards and honors to come for our Cowboys.  We'll try to post a more complete list after Awards Night.

Advance and Be Recognized

The Wyoming girls golf team placed third in the D.II sectional golf tournament out of ten teams and now advance to the district tournament on Wednesday, 10/1.

The girls were led by senior captain Sam Pease who finished with the 6th best overall score out of 62 players, shooting 93. Also scoring were Elizabeth Hughes-106, tied for 18th, Lucy Walton-115, tied for 28th. and Sydney Wellman-120, tied for 35th.

Congrats to all of the girls on this years team for a very good season. Best of luck next week.

Cowboys Shoot Down the Rockets

The ladies defeated McNick on Monday, 9/15 at WGC, 211 to 225. Playing in the last home match of her career, Sam Pease was medalist once again firing a 43, 6 over par at the difficult Wyoming Golf Club.  Kip Hughes, Lucy Walton and Reilly Simmons also counted in the score Monday.

Congrats ladies, beat Badin and onto sectional.

Slicing Up the Competition

Margaret Gallick reported for the Girls JV Golf match against Loveland Wednesday, September 10th.

Anna Sponaugle was medalist with a 53 in the girls JV golf win over Loveland yesterday.

Fourth win of the season after a winless last year!  

Girls JV Golf Beats Badin

The girls JV golf team posted their third win of the season against Badin on Monday (September 8th).  Medalist was Crissy Gallick with a 36.

Girls Golf Going Gangbusters

Coach Terry Sheehan reported for the Girls Varsity Golf Team,

Congrats to the ladies golf team on their 7th victory of the season on Monday, 9/8, defeating Princeton at WGC, 209 to 224. Senior Sam Pease was the medalist once again shooting a 46. Also scoring for the victors were. Libby Fischer, Lucy Walton and Kip Hughes.  Next match is Wednesday vs. Indian Hill at Kenwood.

Tuesday, August 12th, the Girls JV Golf team earned their first victory of the year against Loveland (and the school year hasn't even started yet!).

Special kudos were given to Crissy Gallick who shot an outstanding score of 35.

Podium Premier

Coach Sheehan reported from Thursday's Girls Varsity Golf glory.

The Varsity girls golf team opened the season with an 18-hole tournament in Fairfield on 8/7  that included seven division II teams. Our girls finished third shooting a very respectable 364. Last year's team had a 460 total so this years team showing much improvement.  Top scorers were Senior Sam Pease-83, Sophomore Elizabeth Hughes-88, Sophomore Lucy Walton-93, Junior Madeline Juergens-97, Junior Reilly Simmons-97.

Good news From Girls' Golf

AD Jan Wilking passed on a great update from the world of Girls' Golf.

The varsity girls golf team defeated McNicholas on 9/9 at WGC, once again led by medalist Sam Pease. Sophomore Sydney Wellman played in a JV match on 9/9 at Golden Tee and shot a seasons best 34. Congrats to all of the ladies playing golf this season, the coaches are proud of each one of you.

JV Golf Goes for a Ride

Margaret Gallick sent us a note from the Girls' JV Golf match against Villa Hills on Tuesday, September 3rd.

They are not winning, but improving and having a great time.  Big thrill was riding in a truck to DeVou Park (like being on a golf course in Scotland it was so hilly) and listening to country music.

Cowboys Couldn't Take Fenwick

Anne Fischer relayed a report from Coach Sheehan about the Girls' Varsity Golf team.

The varsity girls went down to defeat vs. a strong Fenwick team on 8/22 but are 
showing improvement in each match. Leading the way for the ladies was Sam Pease 
who took medal honors firing a 43. 

Next home match is Monday, 8/26 vs. Kings (at WGC).

Girls' Golf Meeting

Great news!! Wyoming has hired a new Girls Golf coach for next season, his name is Terry Sheehan. I met with coach Sheehan last Thursday and he is eager to meet all of you. After checking with a few of the players we have decided to meet briefly after school on this Wednesday, May 30th.

Coach Sheehan recently retired after a long career in high school education. He started as a teacher at Little Miami, moved on Turpin and finished at Batavia where he was the Athletic Director and Boys Golf coach. He presently works part-time at Sharron Woods Golf Course. Coach Sheehan will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Wyoming Girls Golf Team.

I know that transitions can be difficult but I promise you and coach Sheehan that I will do everything I can to insure that our traditions continue. This is an opportunity for our team to get stronger.

There are full schedules for both Varsity and JV for next season but with six seniors graduating, we will need a few more players to fill out the teams. So please check with your friends and classmates to see if there are some girls that would like to join in our fun.
We will pass out medical and participation forms which will be due August 1st, the first day of the season. We will pass out schedules too.
