Tonight, the Varsity boys will be playing at 6pm and the JV boys will be playing Anderson under the lights at 8pm at the HS.

It is also Youth Lacrosse Boys Youth Lacrosse night and all youth players will be recognized by team at midfield between games.

Youth players should wear their jerseys as there will be discount concessions for all boys wearing their jersey.

Wyoming Recreation Center Girls on The Run Registration is Open! Girls on the Run is a nationally successful character development program that inspires girls grades 3-5 to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. The program meets twice per week and combines age-appropriate character development lessons with running games and culminates in a 5K run on May 9th in downtown Cincinnati. The program uses exercise, positive reinforcement, and encouraging role models to provide young girls with the confidence they need in those critical pre-teen years. The program is non-competitive, but every girl is encouraged to try her best.

Program starts the week of February 9 and meets for 12 weeks on Mondays & Wednesdays from 4- 5:15pm at the Wyoming Recreation Center. The program requires consistent attendance by all participants, as the lessons build upon each other. Registration will be open from January 19 at 9am – January 28 at 6pm. Catching Up with Youth Wrestling

High School Wrestling Coach Pitman reported for the Young Matmen
Three youth wrestlers placed in the very large Fairfield Invitational on Sunday, January 11th. Earning runner-up was Landen Woolsey (first grade),  Jack Carmichael (Second Grade) earned 3rd Place, and Carter Snyder (kindergarten) wrestled his way to 4th place.

On January 18th the youth competed in the Lakota West Youth Tournament.  Jack Carmichael was the champion in his bracket, Carter Snyder was 3rd, and Tristan Pitman (kindergarten) was 4th.  Landen Woolsey had to pull out of the tourney after his first round win due to illness.

Next up for the Little Cowboys is the Reading Invitational

If They're This Good Now...

The Wyoming Youth Wrestlers traveled to Blanchester recently to participate in the Youth Blanchester Invitational. Over 300 wrestlers in the greater Cincinnati area (ages 5-12) participated. Five wrestlers from Wyoming’s Youth Program placed.

Seen About Town

Now I'm not going to make any comments about how the fans at the Xavier Women's Basketball game against IU on December 29th, breathed a sigh of relief when they say this blue-donned group take the court, just to have their hopes dashed when they realized these were 6th grade, undefeated-this-season, Cowboys lining up for a photo-op.  Thanks to Susan Osha for sending us this prophetic picture of some of our youth basketball players standing tall on the college hardwood.  We'll have to dig this back out one day when when they are there to play for real, and not just to toy with the emotions of the true-blue XU fans.

CORRECTION - Revised Basketball Camp Dates

I made a mistake when I posted the REVISED Basketball Camp dates.  I must have been looking at my Mayan Calender which showed Monday as being the 16th.  I don't know why I am still using that calender anyway.  It seems like their quality control really fell off after 2012.

The correct revised schedules for the Basketball Camps are as follows.

Camp Dates are

Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18.

Grades 2-5 3pm to 5:45pm

Grades 6-9 6pm to 9pm

Youth Football Finishes Big

Congratulations to all the Wyoming Youth Football Association's football teams as they all made it to the SOYFAI Southern Division Superbowl games last weekend. Wyoming had a very successful weekend by once again winning 4 out of the 6 championship games played.
Congratulations to coach Bruce Davis and the Kdg/1st Grade team for winning their first Superbowl title with a win over Reading.
Also, a special congratulations to Coach Lonnie Grayson and his 2nd grade team, and Coach Tim Marty's 6th grade team for winning back-to-back championship titles against Deer Park and Reading.
Coach Rodney Harris and his 3rd grade team won the coveted three-peat title with a big win over Deer Park in their Superbowl game.
Coach Bryan Richardson (4th Grade) and Guy O'Gara (5th) lead their teams through a very successful season and were runner-ups in their age groups.
All teams represented WYFA well and won and lost with Class, Dignity, and Respect (CDR) which is a mantra of the Cowboys youth organization. Congratulations to all on a very successful season! Football and Cheerleader registration is normally the first week in May at the Wyoming Recreation Center. It's time for Wyoming Youth Football Association's football and cheerleading program registration event for the upcoming 2012 season.  Registration begins on May 5th from 10 AM - Noon at the Wyoming Recreation Center. Coaches will be on hand to answer any questions parents may have.  WYFA fields teams and squads for young athletes in Kindergarten - 6th Grade.  Teams and squads are filled on a first come first serve basis.  However, cheerleading registration will close on June 30th so uniforms can be ordered in time for the start of the season.  WYFA does provide all football equipment and cheerleading uniforms for their participants.  The regular season runs from July 17th - October 27th.  For more information go to www.wyomingfootball.org.

WYFA's first class of players that played in all levels of youth football, and at the middle school, will enter the 9th grade this upcoming season and we are excited to see them on the field next season.  
In the last four years the incoming 9th graders have lost only 4 games (none in 5th Grade, 2 in 6th, 1 in 7th, and 1 in the 8th).  They are in the weight room with Coach Hancock getting ready for the next level. WYFA is very proud of you and look forward to seeing you on Friday nights in the very near future.

Wyoming Youth Football teams have great success

I received the following from the Wyoming Youth Football Association:

Wyoming Youth Football Association's football teams won four out of the six Southern Ohio Youth Football Association's, Southern Division, Superbowls they played in on Saturday, 11/12/11. All WYFA teams made the playoffs and advanced to the divisional championship games for their age groups.

The five/six year old team, led by Head Coach Lonnie Grayson, and the ten year old team, led by Head Coach Tim Marty, won their very first SOYFAI Superbowl Championships last weekend.

Additionally, the seven year old team led by Head Coach Rodney Harris, and the nine year old team, led by Head Coach Guy O'Gara, won their second straight SOYFAI Superbowl Championships.

The eight year old team, led by Head Coach Bryan Richardson, and the eleven year old team, led by Head Coach Kevin O'Brien lost tough championship games.

The five/six and seven year old teams beat the Deer Park Lil Cats in blowout fashion. The nine and ten year old teams downed Reading teams for an even sweeter victory.

Just a reminder that registration begins on May 7th at the Rec center from 10 AM - 12:00 AM (coaches will be on hand) for the Wyoming youth football and cheerleading program.

Wyoming Youth Football continues its winning ways

On 9/25 Wyoming Youth Football won 5 of 6 games vs Delhi.

This past weekend they won 4 of 6 games vs Reading:

5-6 year olds- WYO-14 Reading 0, Coach Harris's team is the Division Leader with a 5-1 record

7 year olds- WYO- 26 Reading--8, Coach Richardson's team improved to 2-4.

8 year olds- WYO-16 Reading-6, Coach O'Gara's team is on a roll, undefeated at 5-0

9 year olds - WYO-26 Reading- 6, Coach Marty's team improved to 3-2-1.

10 year olds- WYO-6 Reading-12, Coach O'Brien's team lost a tough one and is 3-3.

11 year olds- WYO- 0 Reading-6, Coach Prater's team lost another tough one and is 4-2.
