In Like a Lion

I think they're calling for 28"  of snow tomorrow.
Here's something to help warm you up as you sit in your living room gorging yourself on the bread and milk you've stocked up on.  I believe they call that green stuff "grass".

It'll Be a Beautiful Day... If You're There

I've been informed that both the WSF and WYS have (not) guaranteed 68 and sunny for the unofficial Spring kick-off, the 5K FUNRUN on March 14th.  Come out and make sure they deliver.  Of course, if the weather isn't warm, the pancakes will be.  And like the ancient Aleutian proverb says, "Warm pancakes cover a multitude of sins".

The Wyoming School Foundation kicks off the morning with the 4th annual 5K FUNRUN.  Runners of all ages and ability are encouraged to participate!
Check- in begins at 8:00 a.m., with the race starting at 9:00 a.m. at the corner of Worthington and Beech. The course winds through the village of Wyoming streets.

Families are encouraged to participate together--the course is a 2.5K loop; run it twice for a full 5K run.

Your race entry fee gets you lots of HOT deals:
**NEW CHIPPED RACE TIMING—have your race time texted to you.
**FREE commemorative T-shirt—if register by 3/6
**FREE gift certificate for a GRAETERS ice cream cone—available to first 500 to register.

To register for the race, go to:  www.wyomingschoolfoundation.org.

Once the run is completed, head down the street to the Civic Center for the 14th annual PANCAKE breakfast, sponsored by WYS.   Yummy pancakes, both plain and chocolate chip, syrups, sausage, fruit, coffee and juice will be available.

Cost is $10 for adults, $5.00 for kids, ages 4 and up.  Kids 3 and under eat for free.  Breakfast is served from 8-11:00 a.m.

Proceeds from the FUNRUN will benefit the Foundation’s Middle School Capital Campaign.
Proceeds from the Pancake Breakfast benefit Wyoming Youth Services.

Fitness AND breakfast for the whole family…what could be better??

Contact WSF at 821-6909 or WYS at 821-2428 with any questions.

Pinning Down Districts

From CHL Coach of the Year, Brian Pitman

The Wyoming wrestlers placed 6th at the Division II Southwest Sectional in Batavia. Placing for the Cowboys were:

126 Ethan Tefs: 4th Place (District Qualifier)
132 Jacob Hancock: 5th Place (alternate)
145 Asa Palmer: Runner-Up (District Qualifier)
160 Yima Nyamor: Champion (District Qualifier)
170 Justin Shields: 3rd Place (District Qualifier)
182 Luke Kremzar: 3rd Place (District Qualifier)
285 Ben Padnos: 6th Place

Some fun tidbits:
The last sectional champion for the Cowboys in wrestling was Aluor Nyamor-until his younger brother Yima this weekend.
Luke Kremzar pinned his opponent in the consolation Semi-finals in 7 seconds...yes, 7 seconds

Out After New Richmond

Thursday, February 26th, the Girls Basketball team ended their season with a 38-49 loss to New Richmond in the second round of the tournament.  They finished the regular season 12-10 (8-6 in the CHL).  In an effort to lessen the dull ache that can accompany the end of a winning season we've doubled the amount of pictures we usually include.  We've got great sets from both Arch Cunningham
 and Rod Apfelbeck.
Thanks to Arch and Rod.

The Loss of a Local Legend

It's with great sadness that the Round Up reports that Gene Pitman passed away on Friday, February 27th.
From the Pitman family,
We thank everyone who has offered thoughts, prayers, and memories of a man who, in our opinion and the opinion of many, was a legend among men. He never met a stranger and was modest in all that he did. While he was a very unassuming man, he was a giant. He was a coach, mentor, and friend to many who played youth sports in the City of Wyoming. Our family is not limited by children, nieces and nephews, and cousins.  It includes the thousands of people who were influenced by Gene Pitman.
