Cowboys Couldn't Take Fenwick

Anne Fischer relayed a report from Coach Sheehan about the Girls' Varsity Golf team.
The varsity girls went down to defeat vs. a strong Fenwick team on 8/22 but are
showing improvement in each match. Leading the way for the ladies was Sam Pease
who took medal honors firing a 43.

Next home match is Monday, 8/26 vs. Kings (at WGC).
Thanks to Anne Fischer for the report and the picture.

Cowboys Unstoppable

Bob Carter filed this report from the Boys' JV game at Anderson.

In an intermittent rain on Tuesday (8/22), the Wyoming Boys JV soccer took on Anderson.
The Cowboys got on the board early with a goal in the first 3 minutes of the game. The rest of the first half was a back and forth effort with neither team able to score. The Cowboys took a 2 to 0 lead shortly after half time, although Anderson got close with a goal midway through the second half. But the JV team sealed the win with a goal in the closing minute of the game.
Final score:
Cowboys win 3-1, which brings the JV team’s record to 2-0-1.
Next up is Madeira, at home, on 8/27.

Thanks to Bob Carter for pulling double-duty.
He submitted a great report and some sweet pictures.

Cowboys Fall to Princeton

Jen Hays was the bearer of the following un-glad tidings from the Boys' Varsity Soccer game Tuesday, August 20th.

The Wyoming Men’s Varsity soccer team played Princeton on Tuesday at Princeton.  Unfortunately the Cowboys came up a bit short.

The guys held them off for the first half keeping the score tied 1-1, with Nolan Prevish tying it up for the Cowboys.  But the second half then didn’t fair so well.  The Princeton guys came out screaming with a score only a couple minutes after the start of the second half.   They then scored again on a corner kick, bringing the score to 3-1.  Princeton then got a little too zealous, and fouled Jay Klein in the box giving Toby Varland the opportunity to sink a penalty kick bringing the score to 3-2.  Unfortunately Princeton returned the favor and scored one more goal before ending the game.  The final score was Princeton 4 – Wyoming 2.  The guys played hard and we know we’ll get a win next time.

On Thursday the Wyoming Men’s Soccer team plays Anderson High School for our Home Opener!  JV plays at 5:00 pm and Varsity plays at 7:00 pm.  Should be a great game. Come out and cheer on our guys!
Go Cowboys!!

Thanks to Jen Hays for the report, and
Thanks to Deb Varland for the great pictures

BIG finish for the Cowboys

The following game report is actually a copy of a tweet from Athletic Trainer Exraordinairre, James Muncy.

"Wow... Wyoming comes all the way back from 0-2 start to beat McNick in game 5 by a sore of 15-11 to take the match 3-2!  Great win, ladies."
Wyoming (1-0) d. McNicholas (0-1) 18-25, 26-28, 25-20, 25-23, 15-11

A super-fan emailed a description of the end of the game...or what they thought was the end of the game.
"In the final game, we scored the 15th point and everyone jumped around and went crazy. Then the refs did something, which I don't understand, that seemed to an uninformed viewer as a do-over. We then lost that point and one or two more before we finally won...a second, and final time."

For those in the know - can you enlighten us on what happened there?
Thanks to Rod Apfelbeck for the great pictures.

2nd Half Smack Down

Bob Carter sent in the following report catching us up on the Boys' JV Soccer team.

The Boys JV soccer team opened the regular season with a 1-1 tie versus Walnut Hills on 8/17.

For the second game of the season, the JV team went on the road to Princeton High School on Tuesday (8/20). The first half was very close and ended with both teams tied at 1 all. However, in the second half, Wyoming JV took control. The offense combined for over 10 shots on goal – and converted on 2; while the defense teamed up for a second half shut out. The final result: Wyoming JV soccer wins 3 to 1!

Next up, Wyoming takes on Anderson at home on Thursday (8/22).
Thanks to Bob Carter for the report and the great pictures.

Where's My Sport At?

If you or someone you love plays for a Wyoming team that you aren't seeing represented here, please consider being the one to make it happen.  We'd love to include more JV and Middle School teams, but we need you, yes YOU, to submit the stories and highlights to us here at wyoroundup@gmail.com .

And if you or someone you love plays for a Wyoming team that only has dry, boring scores and stats posted, please consider being the one to send us some color commentary from the games. I'm no Oscar Madison; I have been known to use the word "points" when referring to a baseball game.  Just think, you could become a local hero for saving the rest of us from my sub-par, boring sports writing.
