We actually won the second half of the game…If we could have just taken the second quarter out, it would have been a great match up. And it's hard to go up against a team that's graduating 13 seniors!!!!

And DOBO John Brown explained the Rally Beards to me.  For luck, Post-Season shaving is out.  This however, is not an example of a Rally Beard.  This is evidence of an exciting game.

Boys Tennis at the ATP

 

Bob Carter continued his Tennis Double-Duty.  He sent the following report and pictures from the Ohio Sectional Tournament

 

Boys varsity tennis finished the season playing in the very competitive Southwest Ohio sectionals tournament. One of the highlights was watching the boys play on the ATP tennis championship courts – including CENTER COURT!

Myles Bourbon, Will Carter, and Jay Klein played singles. Playing doubles were Nik Plattenburg/Michael Montgomery and Jeremy Smucker/ Evan Emanuelson.

 

Many thanks to coaches Ted Plattenburg and Tom Tobias for a great season!! Next year should be even better as all of the varsity starters are returning.

 

And a big THANK YOU to Bob Carter for all his reports and pictures this season!

Indiana Finishing Schools

Wyoming Football does it right.  But there must be something in the water over in Indiana that puts the polish on already brilliant players.  Rod Apfelbeck gave us the scoop on two Wyoming alum's that are NFL hopefuls.

Larry Black, Jr. who has been playing for the Indiana Hoosiers is now an unsigned free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Track Team CHL Meet Update

Coach Glendenning reported from Day 1 of the CHL Meet

We have 2 league champions so far: the Boys 4x800m relay (in a season best time of 8:18) and Kayla Livingston with a long jump of 16 feet 7 inches. (I know Coach Glendenning is also a teacher, so I hate to publicly correct his spelling, but this should have read ... looooong jump of 16 feet 7 inches.)The boys currently have 49 points and the girls have 37. Running finals are this evening at 5 (Friday, May17th...I apologize for not getting the post out before-hand) at Reading Stadium.

Baseball Battles Back to Beat Bethel-Tate

Varsity DOBO John Brown loves to spread the good word

Big win today (Thursday, May 16th)!
Second round of the tournament over Bethel-Tate, 4-3.
Michael Kelly pitched a complete game, striking out 6. Down 3-1 going into the bottom of the fifth, Parker Chalmers started us off with a triple, leading us to tie the game in the fifth. We then took the lead in the sixth, thanks to Tucker Marty's lead off double, advanced to third off of Hayden Sharp's sacrifice bunt, and scoring from Connor Eldredge's RBI single. Going into the seventh, up 4-3, ended the game with a blooper, caught by Sammy Izenson. This win was our final tournament win on The Ranch for the season.

This win sends us into our Rally Beards. Fieher The Beard!!

It looks like the team will advance to face Clermont NE on Thursday, May 23rd at Lebanon High School.  More specific details to follow.

 

I'm still a sports-newbie so I am on pins and needles here.  What in the world is a Rally Beard?  Pictures... We MUST have pictures!!

Girls Lacrosse Wraps Up Wonderful Season

The Girls HS lacrosse team concluded their awesome season falling short to Indian Hill, 7 to 10, in the second round of the State tournament. Freshman goalie Clare Mellott kept the game close recording 9 saves. Goals were scored by senior MJ Fischer with 3, senior Carly Levick with 2, and 1 each by Adi Smith and Claire Crawford. Assists were recorded by MJ Fischer, Adi Smith, Maggie Hughes, and Marta Stewart.

Under the leadership of Head Coach Kristen Gilwee, the Cowboys finish the season with an impressive 12 wins, 5 loses record. All the players of the 2013 Girls HS lacrosse team should feel proud of their accomplishment after a season of hard work. Many thanks to all the parents and fans for their support.
