Former Cowboy Brett Baker is playing football for Mount Union, which is currently playing in the Division III playoffs. (College football playoffs? I didn't think that was possible).
Last line of the article reads (in part), "Brett Baker (St. Marys/St. Marys Memorial) got the final interception of the day and returned it 23 yards for a touchdown and the 62-14 final."

Record setting football season comes to an end
Wyoming's record-setting football season came to an end Friday night at Dayton Welcome Stadium in a 24-7 loss to Columbus St. Francis DeSales in the state semi-finals.
The game was a defensive struggle most of the night, remaining at just 3-0 in DeSales' favor until 5:00 left in the third quarter. In my opinion, the final score overstates the difference in the game. We were down inside their 20 at the end of the first half but didn't come away with any points. We also drove down to the DeSales 10 yard line late in the fourth quarter before turning the ball over. Finally, DeSales' third touchdown was on a fourth and one and their QB was pretty obviously pushed over the goal line by their running back (see below as the RB reaches out to do so), which is illegal (although rarely called - see here for Reggie Bush famously pushing Matt Leinart into the end zone in the USC-Notre Dame game from a few years ago). I'm not crying foul. They are an excellent football team and outgained us 339-252. They were the better team Friday night. The score just seems to overstate the difference.
Coach Barre told the players after the game that it will take time for the pain to subdue, but when it does they will look back with pride on an outstanding season: the team was 13-1, won the CHL championship, the Regional championship and set the record for the most wins by a Wyoming High School football team (eclipsing the old mark by 2).

They say that sport builds character. It also reveals it. One of the privileges of being down on the field is being able to see and hear the interactions: players, coaches and referees. In the face of this heartbreaking loss, it was wonderful to see the reaction of the team - through the sadness they reached out to and comforted one another. Those bonds of friendship and camaraderie will remain strong long after the pain of this loss has subsided.

Alternate Route Home Friday Night
For anyone who didn't make the game last Friday, the drive home was VERY slow. Greg Sagan has offered the following:
This is an alternate route home that I have taken many times when I-75 south gets backed up. It gets you back on I-75 just south of Solid Rock Church. If I see the road construction signs on the way up, this is the way I am coming home.
1. I-75 S toward Cincinnati - 6.7 mi
2. Take exit 44 for OH-725 toward Centerville - 0.3 mi
3. Turn left at Miamisburg Centerville Rd - 0.3 mi
4. Take the right onto OH-741 S/Springboro Pike. Continue to follow OH-741 S - 14.4 mi
5. Turn right at OH-63 W - 3.1 mi
6. Turn left to merge onto I-75 S toward Cincinnati - 14.6 mi

Sending the team off in style

The Wyoming Cowboys will receive a police escort to lead the bus off to the game on Friday.
We want to pass the word for everyone (students, parents, faculty, etc.) to get to the parking lot at 4:30 with signs, pom-poms, cowbells and lots of noise makers.
We need everyone to be there ... want to have a huge line along the entire driveway giving the Cowboys a great send off as the team heads out with the escort to play in the state semi-final game.

Southwest All-District Football – Black and Seyfried Players of the Year
Wyoming swept the Southwest District Player of the Year honors with senior defensive lineman Jibreel Black being named Defensive Player of the Year and junior quarterback Kyle Seyfried Offensive Player of the Year.

Levick first team, Anderson second team all-state
Seniors Alexa Levick and Jillian Anderson have been named Division II all-state by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.
Alexa, a keeper, was named to the first team.
Jillian, a midfielder, was named to the second team.
