Wednesday, 10/8 in the final CHL matchup vs. Reading

Saturday, 10/11 in the regular season finale vs. Amelia

Wednesday's game vs. Reading is also Senior Night for our 7 seniors - come out and support the girls and celebrate their soccer careers!!!

Inveterate Volleyball Victors

Thursday, October 2nd, the Volleyball team defeated Mariemont in three straight sets and clinched the CHL title.  They are 12-0 in the CHL with a week (and 2 league games) left to play in the regular season

Reading's Deeper Shade of Blue

After the Thursday, October 2nd, 36-10 victory over Reading, the Cowboys now stand alone at the top of the CHL.  They are a perfect 3-0 in league play and will travel to Deer Park (0-3 CHL) on October 10th.

Where Were You?

A lot of people have a lot of work to do to make the football games as great as they are.   Below are some examples of people at work.

And then there are these guys, too.

One of the few jobs the Round Up Photo Corps wasn't able to capture with their camera was the dedicated fan who was taking notice of the game so they could send in a report to the Round Up that included some game highlights to help shine the spotlight a little brighter on our Cowboys.  Maybe next week you should raise your hand so we can get a good picture of you!

Always Brilliant Cowboys Deliver Excellent Finale Golf

The WHS Boys Varsity Golf Team concluded its season on Thursday 10/2 with a fourth place finish (out of 12 teams) at the Division II District Tournament in Middletown.  The Cowboys shot a team score of 326, which left them two places away from advancing to the State Tournament next week in Columbus.  Sophomore Cooper Hausfeld led the Cowboys with a round of 78, followed closely by Junior Sam Marty with 80.  Senior Johnny Hughes shot 83 and Junior Brendan Madden shot 85.  Sophomore Jack Fischer posted a 93.

The Cowboys finished the year with a record of 21 – 6, including an upset of #1 ranked McNicholas.  The team won the year ending CHL Championship tournament, and finished 2nd in the Division II Sectional.  The team came together and finished the year very well, going 10 – 0 in the last 2 ½ weeks of the regular season.

The team will miss outgoing Senior Johnny Hughes next year, but can’t wait for the chance to tee it up again.

JV Boys Soccer Review

Wyoming JV Boys Soccer vs Northwest at home Sat. 9/27
Yet, again our opponents scored first early the first half. A little bit later, sophomore Nick Nance assisted freshman, Trevor Payne with a goal to start the Cowboys off. Northwest received a "yellow card" near the end of the first half. Leaving the score 1-1 at the half.
Freshman, Yima Nyamor had a nice header for our 2nd goal early in the second half. Later freshman, Trevor Payne made a high lob up over the keeper and into the goal! The defense and keeper did a great job and we ended the game with a 3-1 win over Northwest.

Wyoming JV Boys Soccer vs Deer Park at home Tues. 9/30
Wow, what can I say...it was a "Goal Fest"! The first half we started strong we had goals from Ian Hammersmith, Yima Nyamor, Nick Nance, Declan Dunehew, Jules Corbier, two goals from Kendall Eyman and an assist from Trevor Payne. 7-0 Cowboys at the half. The second half the Cowboys made a few shots, defense and keeper kept a clean sheet. For a final of 7-0 Cowboys!!!

Wyoming JV Boys Soccer vs Lebanon away Thurs. 10/2
The Cowboys were off to a great start with junior, Jules Corbier assisting sophomore, Kendall Eyman's header. Freshman, Isaiah Hornsby took a free kick, then Lebanon keeper bobbled it and Kendall Eyman got his 2nd goal of the night. Lebanon scored two goals to tie it up. Then sophomore, Nick Nance scored off Ben Haward's corner kick. Ending the first half 3-2 Cowboys! The Lebanon Warriors came out fighting the second half, freshman-goal keeper Cole Engel was a warrior with lots of tough saves. Yima Nyamor scored a goal putting us up 4-2. Jules Corbier had a great last minute defensive clear, backing up our keeper. Unfortunately, the Warriors kept charging and scored two more goals and tied up the game, 4-4.

Next week:
Monday, Oct. 6th AWAY vs St. Xavier - JV only at 5pm
Tuesday, Oct. 7th AWAY vs Reading - JV at 5pm and Varsity at 7pm (Come cheer the Cowboys on to win the CHL title)

Start The Weekend Early

This week it's Thursday Night Football at Bob Lewis Stadium as the Cowboy's host Reading.  Game starts at 7:00.  Come early for the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at 5:45 in the lobby of the Pendery Center.

Cross Country Conquers the Killer Hill

This past weekend the boys and girls Varsity teams competed at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park Invitational in Peninsula, OH. Senior Ben Stites placed 3rd overall for the boys and Max Hoffman came close behind him in 6th. The boys team placed 3rd overall. The girls team placed 8th overall. Senior Katie Spray placed 30th overall followed closely by sophomore Whitley Elsass.
The boys and girls reserve teams competed a little bit closer to home at the St. Xavier Cross Country Invitational.  Freshman Grant Mellot placed 1st for the cowboys and placed 5th over all. Grant was closely followed by Seniors Jacob Demott and Blacke Wickstrom who placed 8th and 9th respectively. For the girls Senior Margaret Manley placed 1st overall. Behind her Itzel Alvarez-Garcia placed 5th overall and Monica Unzueta placed 8th overall.
The Cowboys have this week off and next week compete at the CHL Cross Country Championship at Sharon Woods. The boys are seeking a Three-Peat and the girls are seeking their first league title since 2010. Ben Stites is also going for a back to back individual championship.

Dedicated photographer Toni Anthony can attest to the course's difficulty as she herself climbed "Killer Hill" to be able to bring home some killer shots.

The CHL Co-Clinch

Jen Hays reported for the Boys Varsity Soccer team

The Wyoming Men's Soccer team played Deer Park on Tuesday (September 30th) and they didn't disappoint.  If you remember my report about the Northwest game...well, this one won't be a whole lot different.  The rally started off with a goal from Jay Klein, who ended up scoring two for the night and having a couple of great assists.  Andrew "Hat-Trick" Derge once again came through with three himself.  Goals were also scored by Andy Renggli, Toby Varland and GARRETH NORRIS!
When the clock ran out it was Wyoming 8 - Deer Park 0.

Congratulations to both the JV and Varsity Teams on their victories last night over Deer Park.
Congratulations to the Varsity on clinching at least a Co-Championship in the CHL this year! Well Done Boys! This will set the stage for the Cowboys to go undefeated in the CHL and win the CHL championship outright next Tuesday Night, October 7th, with a victory over Reading. Something that has not occurred since 1985. The fan support this year has been awesome so please begin now to invite everyone to come out and support the team next Tuesday Night!

The Big Finish
