Powerade To The People

From the Wyoming Sport Report
On a cool Friday evening in Reading, the Wyoming Cowboys (4-2) played spoilers to the Reading Blue Devils (3-3) Homecoming game, winning by a score of 41-0. This game puts the Cowboys atop the CHL rankings, and still undefeated against CHL teams. Wyoming now sits at 8th place in Harbin points for region 14.

It'll Be A Big Night at the W H S

Monday, October 14th, the Volleyball team hosts Woodward in the opening round of the Sectional Tournament. They have a 6:30 start.  Wyoming is 16-3 and Woodward is 1-10.  Not that we want to take anything for granted, but let's hope for a quick match because the Girls' Soccer team is hosting the opening round of their Sectional Tournament at 7.

Back to Back

Coach Crider let us know how the CHL Championships went for the Boys' Golf Team.  (Not that there was ever any doubt)

On Saturday 9/28, the WHS Boys Varsity golf team continued its great season by clinching the Cincinnati Hills League title for Fall, 2013.  The team finished 2nd by a single stroke to Mariemont in the season ending CHL Championship tournament, and that finish was good enough to allow the team to seal the overall league title with a final record of 28 – 2 in the CHL.  This is the second consecutive CHL title for the team, and the first back to back titles since 2006 & 2007.

This year’s title capped off a dominant performance by the WHS Boys Varsity team.  For the season, all 8 members of the team finished in the top 25 in terms of scoring average.  Seniors Henry Moore & Chris Betagole, as well as sophomore Sam Marty and freshman Cooper Hausfeld all finished in the top 7 for season long scoring average in the league.  Juniors Stephen Cholvat and Johnny Hughes were 9th & 10th in the league, and seniors Michael Montgomery (15th) and Jack Brown (25th) rounded out the statistical leaders in the league.

As a coach, I was very proud of the way the boys competed, and how they represented Wyoming in each and every match this year.

Be Seen at Senior Night

Jen Hays sent in the following report from the Boys' Soccer Team's game against Seven Hills on Saturday, October 5th.

The Wyoming Men’s Varsity soccer team took on Seven Hills on Saturday night. Despite the dreary weather the guys ended up giving us a really good game.  Seven Hills is a tough team, but the Cowboys ended up scoring on them with a R. Derge to A. Derge combo for the GOAL!  Goalie Marshall Hays and the defense kept Seven Hills scoreless the first half.  But the second half, some confusion in front of the goal allowed Seven Hills to get one in the net.  After that, although both teams fought hard, there would be no more goals.

Final score was Wyoming 1 – Seven Hills 1.

The final week of regular season games is this week with two home games; Tuesday against Reading (Senior Night) and Thursday against Turpin.  Come on out and root the guys on to two more victories!

Thanks to Jen Hays for the report and for pointing out that

Tuesday, October 8th is
Senior Night
Come out and show your support for our Seniors as they host league rival, Reading at 7PM

Excitement Served Up at Coaches' Classic

Coach Hoppenjans and the JV Girls' Tennis team ended their season on Saturday, October 5th.  She sent in a few words about the match and the season.

The JV Girls’ Tennis team ended their season with a strong showing at the Coach’s Classic this Saturday.  Doubles team Molly Izenson and Sadie Darwish won the back-draw for First Singles in a very close tie-breaker!!!  All of the players played very smart, tough tennis, and the matches were very close.  As always, our players represented Wyoming with fairness, courtesy, and good sportsmanship.  It is such a pleasure coaching these fantastic young women and I am very proud of them.  Great job on a great season!

Congratulations, Girls!  We have a lot to look forward to for next year already.

Thanks to Coach Hoppenjans for serving us lots of great highlights (and even a few pictures like above) throughout the season.
