A Changing of the Guard

Many of you are likely aware of the fact that, Scott Kaufman, our AD of Wyoming Schools, will be leaving Wyoming to take on the role of A.D. for Lakota East. This is a great opportunity for Scott and his family. Although we only had the pleasure of having Scott a part of our Wyoming Schools family I would like to thank him for his time and dedication in pursuit of the developing and advancing our athletic programs while increasing the visibility of our great programs and very talented student athletes. We are currently in the process of finalizing Scott’s replacement. We wish him nothing but the best. Please find below a note from Scott.
Thanks, Jim Leish

“It is with bittersweet emotions that I share with you that I will be leaving Wyoming on July 31, 2013. I have accepted an opportunity to take the AD/Asst. Principal position at Lakota West High School that will begin on August 1, 2013.

The most difficult part of this decision is the fact that Wyoming is a wonderful place with very special people. Since the day I arrived, everyone has been supportive and helpful. The people in the Wyoming Community are some of the most loving, supportive, caring, friendly and compassionate people I have ever met, and for that, I will always be grateful for the relationships I have built and I will leaving with a heavy heart. However, putting personal emotions aside, this move is what is best for my family at this time. I will be working less than 10 minutes from my home and I will be working in a building that both of my kids attend.

The next few weeks will be spent making sure that all of the pieces are in place for Wyoming's next AD to ensure a smooth transition.

The Wyoming Athletic Boosters are all very remarkable group of people.....it has truly been my honor to be a part of the Wyoming family over the past two years.” Scott Kaufman

Constant Improvement and Two Top Tens

Coach Glendenning reported the good news from the State track meet.

Kayla Livingston finished 10th in both hurdle events (100m, & 300m), concluding a great season that included 6 CHL/District titles. Also, our boys 4x800 relay posted their best time of the year at 8:15, a 3 second improvement from their previous best.

Just in Time for Father's Day

If you're anything like me, you've found yourself asking, what has Jim Barre, the A.D. of yore, been up to since retirement?  Besides hustling the stooges out of their lunch money out on the links, he has invented a sports trivia game.  It is called Nickname Knowledge and it is a sports trivia game based on the nicknames of the four major pro sports of football, baseball, basketball and hockey. He has invited us to visit the website at nicknameknowledge.com.

Stites All American Times Two

'12 alum Emily Stites continued her fantastic freshman year at the NCAA Championships earning her second All-American designation.  Check HERE to read the William and Mary Tribe Athletics story of the race.

Emily is fast - no doubt.  And to proving where it came from, the race to send in the story was won handily by Coach Knickel.  He blasted the competition by easy four hours.  Thanks to all the competitors.  Keep training and better luck next time.

Glendenning Defense Fund

Just to clear up the rumors... Coach Glendenning is NOT being investigated by the City of Columbus for tax evasion.  Just because he spends so much time up there with his athletes who make the State meets, that doesn't qualify him as a Part-Time Resident.   But just in case, bring some bail money with you when you make the trip up to OSU's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Friday, June 7th.

The Boy's 4x800m Relay team is off the blocks at 1:45, and will be followed by Kayla Livingston in the semi-finals of both the 100m and 300m Hurdles.  Kayla will be looking to add to her 3 CHL titles, 3 District titles so far this year.
