Untouchable in the CHL

They say it's better to give than to receive.  Maybe so.  The Varsity Tennis team has been giving opponents a rough way to go all season.  And Bob Carter has been in on the act with giving us great pictures.  There's no denying the results; I think they are on to something.  This week besides the pictures, Bob pulled double duty and sent in the following report as well.

On a beautiful Tuesday afternoon (4/30), the boys varsity tennis team beat Mariemont 3-2. This victory raises the Cowboys record in the CHL to 4-0!
Playing singles were Myles Bourbon, Will Carter, and Jay Klein. Playing doubles were Michael Montgomery/Nolan Morley and Jeremy Smucker/Kieren Thomas.

Split at Milford

From Coach Denson

The MS boys lacrosse team traveled to Milford on Tuesday April 30 and split two hard fought games, losing the first 7-10, and winning the second 6-3. With Brooks Brunke injured, Grant Mellott played both games making 13 saves in the first game and 11 saves in the second game, for an overall save percentage of sixty-five percent.
In the first game, the Cowboys stayed within one goal until the final minute when Milford pulled ahead with two quick fast breaks. Cole Engel, Alex Thompson, and Connor Yauss each scored two goals, with Nick Denson adding one. Zach Osha was the play maker for the game with three assists, with Cole Engel and Jared Buttelwerth each adding one. Connor Yauss led with 7 ground balls.
In the second game, the Cowboys jumped out to a four goal lead and never trailed. Cole Engel led the scoring with two goals, with Christian Robles, Max Frankel, Jackson Klug, and Jake Tucker each adding one. With outstanding team offense, all goals came with assists from Max Frankel, Christian Robles, Brian Hartmann, Jackson Klug, Joey Knight, and Cole Engel. Declan Dunehew, Cade Barnett, and Brayden Matlin led the team in ground balls.
The Cowboys bring a record of 17-9 into their final home games of the season on Thursday May 2 against Summit and Visitation.
Thanks to Coach Denson for the great report and
Thanks to Susan Osha for the sweet pictures.

Ultimately UNDEFEATED

From Coach White

The Wyoming Jackrabbits Ultimate Frisbee team completed an undefeated regular season Sunday, beating Clark Montessori 11-10 in a game not as close as the final score indicated. After spotting Clark a 4-1 advantage, the Jackrabbits clamped on a fearsome zone, and went on a 10-2 run, including seven straight points over a most impressive stretch, and coasted to the time cap for the win.
A remarkable 13 Jackrabbits threw and/or caught a score, led by seniors Nick Woods with three scoring catches and Khafra Flynn with two scores and one scoring toss. Jackrabbits with two scores from catches and/or throws included senior Ethan Padnos, juniors Alex Kellner, Michael Reinhold and Sam White, and freshman Joe White.
With the win and regular season title, the Jackrabbits earned a top seed at this weekend's 16- team league tournament at Gulley Park in Lebanon.

We reported on the Girls' Lacrosse lumping of McAuley on April 27th.  But such a big win deserves a second look, a double-take if you will.  And in making it a true double-take, we have double the pictures for you.

Cowboys clawed by the Wildcats.

Friday, May 26th, the Girls' Softball team were defeated on the road by a tough Finneytown team 2-12.  They are now 3-6 in the CHL and will stay on the road as they are hosted by Madeira on Monday, April 29th for a 4:30 game.  Come out to watch the win!
Compare the picture above with the one below - just like Sesame Street - one of these things is not like the other...
Before you think I'm picking on the Finneytown catcher, know I'm not.  I admit I couldn't do it.  I would get tossed from the game for distracting the batter as the plastic knee guards knocked together.  But it helps to really show the bravery of our own catcher.  Noticing the Cowboy catcher's intent gaze and calm confidence is pretty inspiring.
