Random Sports Fact

Ice skaters skate on water, not ice.  At 32 degrees Fahrenheit, ice has a liquid surface measuging 40 billionths of a meter thick.  Below -31 degrees Fahrenheit, the liquid layer becomes so thin that a skater's blades would stick rather than glide across the ice.

Girls basketball defeats Loveland

The girls basketball team beat Loveland last night at Wyoming by a score of 38-32.  This improves them to 12-3 (8-2) on the season.

The paper doesn't have a box score but reports that Nikki McKee was the high scorer with 15 points.  She also grabbed 6 rebounds.  Sudy Graham was also in double figures with 11 points.

Next up: home vs. Madeira on Wednesday, JV at 6, Varsity at 7:30.

Boys bowling whips Winton Woods

The boys bowling team blew out the Warriors of Winton Woods yesterday by over 300 pins.  Nick Burns was the leader with 233 and 222 games along with Joe Meier with a 224. 

The girls lost a tough battle but Allix Hilledrand rolled a 171.

According to the CHL Website, the CHL's top bowlers and their averages (as of 1-27) include:

1 - Allix Gillebrand - 155.2
2 - Michelle Whaley - 145.0

Boys:
1 - Nick Burns - 190.8
2 - Joe Meier - 192.0
4 - Matt Brown - 167.8
5 - Chris Bellman - 165.1

Lost


In honor of tonight's season premier of Lost, I'm going to post the long lost results of the Southwest Ohio High School Swimming & Diving Classic. The meet was held January 16th and 17th and involved 43 schools on the girls' side and 46 on the boys'. This was a huge meet with some very big schools represented.

The Cowboys performed outstandingly.  The girls finished 11th out of those 43 teams and the boys finished 3rd out of 46, behind only St. X. and Centerville.

Girls place 2nd at CHL Swimming & Diving Championships


The Wyoming girls placed 2nd at the Cincinnati Hills League Swimming and Diving Championships held January 29th and 30th. The diving was held the 29th at Mariemont and the swimming was Saturday the 30th at Powell-Crosley. The girls finished 2nd to Mariemont 411-314. Third place Indian Hill scored just 172 points.
