vs. Taylor
The Cowboys were downed last week in the series against Taylor. The first game, at Taylor, ended in a 3-13 loss at the bottom of the 6th inning. The game started promising with a homerun by Reagan Raymer. Reagan went 2/2 this game but the bats struggled against Taylor’s senior pitcher, Sarah Fellinger.
Game two of the series was a different story. Sophomore Reily Boss started the first inning stopping Taylor by achieving her first double play when she caught Katie Lanter’s fly to right and then she threw out the runner at first. The game was scoreless until the third inning when Reagan Raymer’s single to right center got her on base and stole her way to 3rd. Olivia Munneke’s grounder to short scored the Cowboy’s only run of the game. In the 5th inning, a single to left field placed another Taylor runner on first, but the next batter hit a line straight to pitcher Katie Lewis who caught it and threw out the runner for Wyoming’s second double play of the game. Taylor got a jump forward again in the 6th inning with a long ball to center field and two singles followed to score the go ahead runs. The Cowboys ended the run with a diving stop by shortstop Olivia Munneke who threw to 2nd baseman Erin Campbell for the out and then she threw to first for the Cowboy’s third double play.
Despite a stellar defense, the Cowboy’s couldn’t get their bats going and the game ended 2-1 Taylor.
vs. Indian Hill 4/20 and 4/22
Wyoming visited Indian Hill’s new turf field and wasted no time breaking it in. Reagan Raymer and Allison Golden hit back to back singles to start the game and scored on a Munneke groundout and a bunt hit by Erin Campbell who eventually scored on a wild pitch. The 3-0 lead held through the bottom of the third when the Braves scored a pair of runs. Reily Boss scored the Cowboy’s final run on a groundout by Michaela Fetter in the top of the fourth. The Cowboys managed a single base runner in the final three innings. The Braves took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth with 4 runs and finalized the scoring a solo homerun in the fifth. Final Score was 7-4 Indian Hill
Wyoming’s home game against Indian Hill was played at Indian Hill due to earlier rains making the Wyoming field unplayable. For the first two innings, the Cowboys did not feel at home. Defensively, play was sloppy everywhere save for a nice throw from centerfield to the cut off resulting in a put out at third and MJ pitched three strikeouts. Offensively, the bats were silent. Only a single by Golden left the infield. The third inning got Wyoming back in the game. MJ faced four batters and got her fourth of nine strike outs. Sammy Campbell was hit by pitch and the next 4 of 5 batters crushed doubles and Wyoming scored 4 runs. They scored another in the fifth with a second double by Munneke scoring Raymer to make the score 7-5. With the benefit of another single hit, Indian Hill scored 4 more runs in the top of the 6th to ice the game. Final Score was 11-6 Indian Hill
vs. Priceton
After a couple of tough CHL loses, Wyoming faced non-league Princeton. After a quick top of the first, Wyoming started with a Raymer double and took advantage of a couple of miscues to score four runs. Princeton closed the score to 4-3 in the top of the 4th. Wyoming responded with 2 in the bottom of the fourth and one each in the 5th and 6th to lead 8-3 going into the seventh. Princeton made it interesting scoring 3 and had the bases loaded when a fly ball to Emma Jacquemin in left field ended the game. Other notable performances: Erin Campbell went 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs. Madeline Juergens got the win with 6 strikeouts and 5 assists.
