Cowboys Shine in Springboro

The Wyoming HS Girl's Lacrosse team traveled north to play Division 1 Springboro Tuesday night.  A fast Springboro JV team defeated the Cowboys JV with goals scored by Libby Fisher (2) and Madelyn Taylor (2).

The Varsity squad played a game of halves with the undefeated Springboro squad.  The Cowboys dominated the first half leading 9 to 1 and played to perfection.  With continued strong defense anchored by Carly Schlager, Emily Wood, Grace Steiner, and Lindsay Stewart and long offensive possessions, the Cowboys outlasted Springboro, final score 11 to 8.   Goalie Claire Mellott snared 8 saves and staved off a flurry of shots as the game came to a close.   Midfield transition game was controlled by the Cowboy Middies consisting of Olivia Cunningham, Emily Wadds, Haley Stewart, Molly Izenson, and Annabelle Steiner.   Maggie Hughes lead the scoring with 4 goals followed by Reilly Simmons (2), Adi Smith (2), Marielle Smith (1), H. Stewart (1), and E. Wadds (1).  M. Smith lead assists with 5 followed by A. Smith (2) and O. Cunningham (1).

 Next up, the JV and Varsity squads are at home on Thursday to host Anderson HS, JV gametime at 6pm, Varsity at 7:15.
