Wyoming Boys, Schwartz, Stites advance to Regional Cross Country Meet

The Boys and Girl's Cross Country Teams competed this past Saturday at the District Cross Country meet. The Boys Team, led by senior Patrick Ammerman 13th place finish, came in a close second to Blanchester by six points (In Cross Country, the places of a team's five best runners are added together, with the low score winning). The top four teams advanced to the Regional.

"I was very happy with the Boys Team. I thought they have run their two best races of the season at the CHL and District meets" said Coach Dan Flaute. "It's great to see them run their best in the most important meets of the season"

Unfortunately, the Girls team, missing three of their top five due to the recent flu epidemic, finished 5th and failed to advance to the Regional meet. However, freshman Sammy Schwartz finished 9th, and sophomore Emily Stites finished 13th to advance to the Regional Meet (The top 16 Individuals in the race advance to the Regional, regardless of their team's place.).

"It's obviously disappointing to not advance, but I was proud of the effort our girls gave despite being so short handed" said Coach Flaute. "However, Sammy and Emily both advanced, so we'll have some Lady Cowboys competing at the Regional. Our top five runners are all freshman and sophomores, so we should have some strong teams in the coming years."

The Regionals are this coming Saturday at Troy, with the girls running at 11:50 AM, the boys at 2:05 PM.
