Girls Tennis doubles team, Berg and Thoresen, advances to Districts

The girls tennis team started their day early yesterday, and played in the Div II sectionals all day. The first two rounds were played in Mason before the rain forced them to move indoors. Participating schools were: Badin, Cincinnati Country Day, Clinton-Massie, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, Deer Park, Fenwick, Indian Hill, Madeira, Monroe, Norwood, Taylor and Wyoming.

After first and second round victories, the doubles team of Ashley Berg & Tess Thoresen defeated the second seeded team from CCD. Their scores were 3-6, 7-5, 6-3. They saved 3 match points in the 2nd set and their momentum continued through the 3rd set victory. They advance to districts.

Our singles players yesterday were Madison Bourbon, Rachael Montgomery and Stella Fischer. Our doubles included the teams of Ashley Berg/Tess Thoresen and Olivia Hennessy/Meredith Hennessy. All of the girls played well even though they faced some challenging opponents.

Match Scores were:

First Round: Bourbon bye; Fischer 6-1, 6-0; Montgomery 0-6, 0-6; Berg/Thoresen 6-0, 6-0; Hennessy/Hennessy 6-2, 6-4

Second Round: Bourbon 6-1, 6-0; Fischer 6-1,6-0; Berg/Thoresen 6-0, 6-0; Hennessy/Hennessy 6-0, 6-0

Also next week, Wyoming advances to the top eight of the Div II state team tourney. All are encouraged to cheer them on at the Indian Hill High School courts on Wednesday, 10/14, at 4:00 PM!
