Wyoming Girls Tennis is still to be represented at State next week in the individuals' side of the State tournament!
Ashley Berg and Tess Thoresen won both of their district doubles matches yesterday and will advance to the State tourney!! They are the first Wyoming Girls to go to State. First they beat Summit Country Day (Hart/Mahon) 6-4, 7-5. An hour later they played a really tough team from Carroll. They won the first set 6-4, struggled in the second 3-6, and then finished up for a victory with 6-4. Ashley, a freshman and Tess, a sophmore were among the youngest duo today at districts.
Four doubles teams go to state and they include: Wyoming, CHCA (Baxter/Faugno), Charminade- Julienne, and Oakwood. The latter 2 schools are in the Dayton area. These 4 teams will play each other for the semi-finals and finals to determine placement/seeding at the ATP Center in Mason this Saturday. Start time for Tess and Ashley will be around 12 noon to play Oakwood in the semis after Div I singles and doubles and Div II singles start at 9. The state tourney is Friday 9/22 and Saturday 9/23 at Ohio State in Columbus. Their hard work and perseverance has paid off. Let's cheer these Wyoming girls on!
