A Beautiful Night for Football as Cowboys go to 6-0

The football team put on another dominating performance last night, beating Madeira 42-6. Coming home after four straight weeks on the road meant that some things changed - for example the grill team was back in action (see background of photo below) - while others stayed the same: Kyle Seyfried threw for four touchdowns and 238 yards, the defense intercepted the ball three times and didn't give up any points until the fourth quarter, and the team garnered another lopsided victory.

We went in at half with a 21-0 lead.  However, Madeira came out in the 2nd half with renewed energy.  Their defense forced us to punt on our first three possessions.  Their offense stalled at our 11 on their first drive and scored on their second, making it 21-6 with a feeling that this might be a little different than it felt going into the locker room up by 3 TD's.

After our third possession and third punt, Jared Frost made a play that swung momentum back to our side.  He intercepted a pass and returned the ball 49 yards down to the 6.

The offense needed just one play with Kyle running the 6 yards for the score.  On Madeira's next possession, Dillon Burk did the honors, returning an interception to our 24.  Again, the offense needed just one play, a 24 yard pass from Kyle to Evan Aleshire for the score.  Evan made a great, Giants-Superbowl-esque catch on the play (see below).  The game was then safely in hand.

Catching touchdown passes for the Cowboys this week were Jonathan Tighe, Evan Aleshire, and Harry Meisner, with two.  Evan also caught a two point conversion.  Kyle was 17 of 25 passing for the game.  He did throw his first two interceptions of the year but they were off tipped balls so hard to blame on him completely.  Plus, that brings his TD to interception ratio to 17 to 2, something any quarterback would be more than happy with.  Finally, he may have worked out something with Matt McCoy, as Matt absolutely planted the kid from Madeira who had the temerity to intercept one of Kyle's passes.

Speaking of big hits, Isiah Nearor had a great stick while lead blocking for Harry Meisner.  Check out the pictures below where Isiah makes the block on #14 in the left picture and in the right picture you can (just barely) see the destruction Isiah left in his path.

The defense also rose up in support after Kyle's pick.  After his first interception, Madeira started on our 33.  Four plays later the defense had allowed Madeira just 7 yards and we regained possession.

As a team we averaged a stellar 6.8 yards per rush.  Nice job O-line.  Isiah Nearor led the way with 92 yards on 12 carries, and both he and Kyle had a 24 yard run.

In addition to Dillon Burk and Jared Frost's interceptions, Isiah had one in the first half.
