Well at least not a problem from the standpoint of getting the job done. No slow start this week either. Instead, the offense and defense took it to Finneytown and built a 20-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and a 48-0 lead at half.
Kyle Seyfried was 11-15 for 299 yards and five touchdowns - that's a touchdown on every third pass attempt. Harry Meisner led the receivers with four catches for 193 yards and three touchdowns.
Also catching touchdown passes were Chris Dolle and Evan Aleshire.
Perhaps the most exciting and surprising play of the game came from Isiah Nearor. On a Finneytown punt toward the end of the first half, we kept our defense on the field instead of putting in our punt return team. Finneytown had decent field position, they were down pretty big, and the first half was coming to a close, so we were guarding against a fake. They did punt though, only to have Isiah field it at our 10 and return it 90 yards for a touchdown.
It was almost a 2 punt return TD night. Max Kadish had a nice 33 yard punt return that almost went for six.
Isiah had scored earlier on a four yard rush. Drew Perry completed the scoring with an 8 yard run in the third quarter.
Jibreel Black recorded two sacks for the game. Jacob Allsop had an interception and D.J. Wilkinson had a fumble recovery.
But let's remember that football is not an individual sport. Nothing is more important than teamwork.
