Boys soccer team outsted from tournament on PK's

The boys soccer team played CHL champs Finneytown at St. X Stadium Saturday night in the 2nd round of the playoffs.  During the regular season the two teams tied 2-2 at Wyoming.  On Saturday Wyoming briefly led on Daniel Richtand's goal but Finneytown quickly came back and tied the score.

It remained 1-1 through the end of regulation.  It remained 1-1 at the end of the first 15 minute overtime.  It remained 1-1 at the end of the second 15 minute overtime.  Thus, after 190 minutes of soccer, the two teams had each scored three goals.

The two very evenly matched teams then went to Penalty Kicks to decide who would advance.  By the thinnest of margins, Finneytown tallied five and Wyoming four.  It was truly one of those games where it was a shame that either team had to lose.

Congratulations to all the players for their 7-6-4 season.  Special tribute goes to seniors Joe Fegleman, Alex Hinger and Captain Reed Jaeger.
