Football team beats Deer Park 47-7, goes to 7-0

I'm not sure how many of the football players stayed up late working on their class floats this week but they were a little slow out of the box last night.  Toward the end of the first quarter we trailed Deer Park.  But then the Cowboys sprang to life.  Big time.

As you can see in the picture below, with just 1, backwards six seconds left in the first quarter we trailed Deer Park 7-0.  But in those 1, backwards six seconds we put up 14 points.  Almost a point a second...depending on how long backwards six is.  A 4 yard Kyle Seyfried to Evan Aleshire touchdown pass, a Dillon Burck fumble recovery on the ensuing Tyler Cornelius kickoff, a 21 yard pass from Kyle to Jonathan Tighe, and a Kyle to Isiah Nearor two point conversion made the score at the end of the first quarter Cowboys 14, Wildcats 7.

In the second quarter Kyle and Evan connected again for a 21 yard TD pass, Eric Price picked up a fumble caused by Jibreel Black and returned it 30 yards for a TD, Isiah Nearor had a 4 yard touchdown run, and Drew Perry capped it off with a 43 yard touchdown run of his own.  So by halftime it was 40-7 and everyone could relax and enjoy the homecoming coronation.

At halftime Jillian Anderson and Patrick Ammerman were named Homecoming Queen and King - congratulations to them.  (Big thanks to assistant principal Mr. Mike Overbey for his invaluable assistance at halftime.)

Congratulations also to the junior class for their winning float - Steamboat Willie.

Kyle threw his fourth touchdown pass of the game to Spencer Herbst in the third quarter to complete the scoring.

Kyle ended up 16 of 21 for 170 yards and four touchdowns.  Isiah picked up 105 yards on 17 carries.

Next up: at Finneytown next Friday at 7:30
