Rod Crider reported from the April 30th Boys Varsity Lacrosse game against Springboro.
The WHS Boys lacrosse team pulled out a thrilling 10 – 9 win on the road Wednesday night against Springboro HS. Although the team led for the majority of the game, Springboro fought back to tie the game at 9 with less than a minute to play. Senior James McAllister scored the “golden goal” with :15 left in the game, and the Cowboys hung on for the win. The win was the result of a great team effort. Junior Johnny Hughes scored 3 goals and also dished out 2 assists. Sophomore Jack Crider also scored 3 goals and had 1 assist. Junior Andy Renggli scored 2 goals, and senior Griffin O’Gara scored 1 goal and had 3 assists. Junior Hudson Rogers picked up 5 key ground balls during the game as well. Also making huge contributions to the win were junior goalkeeper Frank Barzizza who had 11 saves during the game, and sophomore Nicholas Robles, who rocked Springboro for 19 face off wins.
The team now sports a record of 8 – 2
