Downed By Deer Park

The Goldens reported from the Varsity Softball team games on Tuesday and Wednesday (April 29 and 30)
Deer Park Series Breaks up Wyoming's Winning Streak as the Cowboys fall 14-1 and 10-7.
It was a disappointing game as the softball team faced Deer Park's pitcher, Jenna Shephard.  Shephard clearly intimated the Wyoming batters and only gave up 3 hits, all in different innings.  The lone run was scored by Olivia Munneke who reached on an error, stole 2nd on a passed ball, and was batted in with a single to center by Erin Campbell.
It was a different story  in game 2 against Deer Park.  Wyoming batters shook off their previous game and faced Jenna Shephard with a different attitude.  Wyoming's first batter, Reagan Raymer lead off with a double followed by a single by Ally Golden.  Erin Campbell came up and also smashed a double scoring Raymer and Golden.  Ellen Koesterman came up to earn herself an RBI as she knocked out a single.  Reiley Boss aided in moving Ellen around the bases with her single to right but it was Michaela Fetter who earned the last RBI of the inning to bring Ellen home.  Cowboys finished the inning with a 4-0 lead.  The Cowboys kept their lead until the fourth inning; when, with the score tied 4-4, Deer Park's Lacey Chadwell, the league homerun leader, batted a two-run homerun.  Deer Park followed that by scoring 4 more runs in the inning bringing the score to 4-10.
The Cowboys scored again in 5th inning when Erin Campbell ended the dry spell with a single to center.  Ellen advanced her to second followed by a run scoring single to right by Reiley Boss for her second RBI of the game.  It was at the top of the 7th inning when the girls rallied to score again. Ellen Koesterman was walked with 2 outs.  Reiley Boss then followed with a double to left field.  A single by Sara Washienko scored both Koesterman and Boss bringing the Cowboys to within 3.  The Cowboys ended the game with the tying run at the plate.
I would be remiss however not to point out some great stats from this game.  The Cowboys hit 4 doubles this game, two of them by Reagan Raymer, 1 by Erin Campbell and 1 by Reiley Boss.  We also had a great defensive double play.  Jenna Shephard hit a ground ball to Olivia Munneke who flipped it to Erin Campbell for the force at second, who fired it to Ellen at first for the double play.
I also want to give a shout out to Wyoming's batting leader, Reagan Raymer who is currently 5th in league in an average of .526  Not too far behind are #10, Reiley Boss (.446), #14 Olivia Munneke (.412) and #22 Erin Campbell (.361).  Great job girls!
So, although we suffered a loss in both games, the second game was definitely an exciting one to watch!

Thanks to Bob and Lisa Golden for the great report, and
Thanks to Skip Koesterman for the sweet pictures.
