Boys lacrosse loses by one goal to Indian Hill

From our lacrosse stringer on Wednesday night's game:
A perfect night for lacrosse as the Indian Hill Braves traveled to Lewis Stadium to battle the Wyoming Cowboys and what a battle it was. The Braves established an early lead in the first period scoring four goals to the Cowboy's single goal. In the second period Wyoming scored two more goals and Indian Hill answered back with one goal for a half time score of five to three, Indian Hill. Both teams scored two goals in the third quarter giving Indian Hill a two point lead at the end of the third period. Displaying great fortitude both teams played hard the fourth period and with one minute and forty-one seconds left, the Cowboys scored making it a one point game. In the last minute and forty-one seconds of the game both teams took their remaining time-outs and coaches strategized the best possible plan to bring victory to their teams. After several near missed shots by the Cowboys the clock counted down to zero and Indian Hill won by one point. Fans enjoyed the teams and a great game.

The first goal of the game was scored by the Wyoming Cowboys when Attackman Austin Hughes #1 found a Midfielder Tyler Cornelius #44 cutting to the crease. Austin’s well timed pass allowed Tyler to score the opening goal within the first minute of the game. Indian Hill’s reply was four unanswered goals in the first period scored by Attackmen Meyer #2 and Weiner #9, with two of the four scored by Midfielder Bauer #5.

The Wyoming Cowboys came from behind to within one of tying the game. All of the Defenseman played a great game. To name a few of the “D-poles, Tommy Campbell #36 who laid some hard hits on Braves bodies, Matt Fisher #10 who stuck to his man and had an interception, and Harrison Wood #40 who played d-pole middie and really stepped up to the plate as a sophomore tonight. D-Pole John Colton #33 played an outstanding game distinguishing himself as the high loose ground balls controlled player for the game with five balls. Austin Hughes, Tyler Cornelius, and Daniel Leish were the goals scorers with three, two, and one goals respectively throughout the game. The team was glad to see Will Irwin #23 back out of the field tonight after his recovering from an injury. Will has healed up nicely and still has the speed the Wyoming Cowboys need for the fast breaks and loose ball control. Austin Hughes, James Edwards, and Nick Kamphaus had assists on the night demonstrating selfless sportsmanship and team camaraderie.

Fans from both High Schools joined together to cheer on their teams and like other sporting events played between Wyoming and Indian Hill everyone was sure to get their money’s worth of athletic competition good team rivalry at the highest level. Everyone still talks about the thriller football game between the two schools this past season and tonight’s lacrosse game exhibited some of the same level of competition and enthusiasm.
