Rutter is a Classic Champion

Junior Jonathan Rutter won both the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events over the weekend at the Southwest Ohio High School Classic meet.
The Classic is the nation's largest high school swimming meet with over 3000 swimmers. Preliminary races are conducted in 8 different sites throughout Cincinnati and Dayton with the top 16 in each event competing at Keating Natatorium each evening. It is very difficult to qualify for finals and Rutter was one of only two Wyoming swimmers to make it back in an individual event. The other was his brother, Christopher. Wyoming Men did qualify 4 relays to compete at night over the two day meet.  A Wyoming diver also made it to the finals.  Sophomore Will Courtney advanced from his 3rd place finish at his Prelim site to finish 23rd overall.
Rutter's time of 58.01 in the 100 Breast not only gave him the win, but also put him as the 3rd fastest time in Classic history (40 years). Maybe he can break the record next year (it is a 56.67). He also won the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:07.57 which is number 8 on the all-time fastest list. He needs to drop to a 2:04.18 if he wants to break that record next year.

Cowboys Battle the Braves

Wyoming and Indian Hill met yesterday for the Crosstown Swimming Classic at Powel Crosley Jr YMCA. The Cowboy men beat the Braves, 111 to 52 while the women were defeated by almost the same score in reverse, 51 to 119 in the last home meet of the season.
Both teams were tired after coming off the SW Ohio District Classic meet that was held over the weekend. We had three dual winners yesterday - Brennan Burt won both the 50 and 100 Free events. Jonathan Rutter won the 500 Free and the 100 Breast events, and Max Chou won both the 100 Fly and 100 Back events. Stephen Barrett was the winner of the 200 Freestyle.
Both of the free relays were victorious yesterday - the Men's 200 consisted of Chou, Matthew Lethander, Barrett and Christopher Rutter. The Men's 400 team was Chou, Barrett, J. Rutter and Burt.
The last home meet is typically our senior meet and we were excited to recognize and celebrate our seniors for this year: Alex Abel, Maggie Barrett, Brennan Burt, Sam Edwards, Erin Engelhardt, Maggie Gilbert, Amelia Irvine, Matt Skidmore, Sattabut Sunan, Shawnese Warren and David Weinrich. Good luck to all of you as you finish your senior season!
The Cowboys will compete at the CHL Championships next Saturday, Feb. 2nd at Mariemont. The Men will be defending their league title for the 7th year! Good luck to all the Cowboys.
