Slow Start Leads to Big Finish

Coach Kunkel Keeps Konked-Out Kids Concentrating on the Competition is the headline I would have used IF I was addicted to alliteration.  But I'm not... I can quit at any time.  Anna Sponaugle, another 7th Grade Girls' Basketball star, who was sidelined with an injury answered the coach's call to report on the Wednesday's game.

On Wednesday, January 23, the 7th grade girls’ basketball team had a big win over Deer Park. The game started out low scoring with the score 3 to 2 at the end of the first quarter. At the half the Cowboys had come up with 7 more points made by Lindsay Stewart, Sydnie Shepard, and Sierra Valentine.
In the third quarter, the Cowboys displayed tremendous defense, delivered by Emma Postallian, Kaelyn Gilliam, Tricia Harmon, and Skylar Wolski. Ashley Moher and Sierra Valentine played decisive defense at point guard this game, along with Lindsay Stewart, who always courageously leads the team at both ends of the floor.
In the fourth quarter the cowboys stepped it up a notch. Emma Postallian and Skylar Wolski both had 3 points, as the Cowboys put some distance between themselves and their opponent. Lindsay Stewart and Sydnie Shepard both had 2 points this quarter, as well. At the end of the game, our Cowboys had vanquished Deer Park by the score of 19 to 10.

The Middle School Girls' teams head to Indian Hill next on Monday, January 28 starting at 4:30.

Thanks to Arch Cunningham for capturing some great shots of the game.
