State Cage Match

In his last report, Coach Pitman alluded to the new State Wrestling Tournament system.  No, it's not a cage match.  That was just the bait and switch to get you to read the article.  Below is an explanation of the system from the CHL website.

Wrestling is trying something new this season. For the first time, there will be a state duals tournament. This will be different then the regular state championship in that it will team oriented as opposed to the current state tourney that is individual oriented. The competition is sponsored by the state wrestling coaches association. The tournament is set up in brackets on the three division levels. Taylor and Wyoming will compete in Division II and Deer Park, Madeira, & Reading will be in Division III. To be eligible, a school must fill over half of the weight classes. Schools are then seeded. It is a one and out tourney. The first round will have matches at the number one & two seeded schools.
The Regional Quarter-Final matches will take place on Wednesday, January 23rd. Number 8 Hughes will take on #9 Taylor at Ross High School. Number 3 Eaton will take on #6 Wyoming at New Richmond High School. Reading is a #1 seed in D3 and will host Lockland. Number 3 Deer Park will take on #6 Madeira at Carlisle.
