Saturday, January 19th, the Girls' Basketball team headed to Deer Park for a league game. The girls came home with a 46-33 win and an even-steven .500 7-7 overall record. They are also now 6-3 in the league for 4th place right behind Maderia and Indian Hill, which are both 6-2 in league play. Besides Wyoming outscoring Deer Park in every quarter, Wyoming also had 14 blocks compared to Deer Park's 3. And Wyoming limited themselves to 5 turnovers while Deer Park racked up 14. Scoring leader, Ashli O'Neal seems to still have trouble hitting her threes, but she came in with 19 points (and went 5-5 in free throws). Emily Wadds had a big night with 11 points (3-3 free throws), 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocks. Morgan Cunningham went just better than 55% to lead the team's percentage of field goals made/attempted for her 11 points. Marta Stewart had 2 points paired up with 4 rebounds. Haley Stewart, not to be outdone, also put in 2 points and matched it up with 3 blocks. Natalie Burchard finished up the scoring with one point.
The girls travel to Indian Hill for another league game on Wednesday, January 23rd. The team will be coming into Indian Hill with a three game win streak and extending it to number 4 there would go a long way to help their standing in the league. Let's all make an effort to turn out and fill the Indian Hill gym with Cowboy Blue!
