Last night, January 9th, the Wyoming Women hosted the CHL runner-up Maderia. It was a close game, and the home team sure gave them a run for their money, but in the end Wyoming came out on the short end of the 53-58 final. On paper, the 4th quarter looks to have been a score-fest where we came out with 23 points and Maderia pulled in 18. Ashli O'Neal led the scoring for the Cowboys with 13 points, which she paired up with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Morgan Cunningham was not be out-done and came in with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Natalie Burchard, who was 100% with her 3-pointers, finished with 9 points. Emily Wadds had 6 points and a whopping 11 rebounds. Katie Sena put in 4 points herself. From the bench, Kelsey Brunsman had 5 points, Marta Stewart had 4 points, and Haley Stewart contributed 2 rebounds.
Sooo close. I think it's a sign that CHL leader Mariemont is about to have their 11 game winning streak snapped, smashed, and shredded by our Cowboys when they play here at home on Saturday, January 12th, at 2:30.
Come out and support the team, just like these local legends.
And even if you aren't a basketball fan, you have to see the blue trombone. I mean, c'mon, it's a blue trombone. When's the last time you saw a blue trombone?
If Kayla Harrison is your sports idol, maybe basketball isn't the sport for you.
