No Rainbows for Reading

From Coach King,

On Jan. 7th, the 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team beat Reading 38-15. Lauren Metz led the scoring with 17 points, followed by Kayla Hampton with 10, Emily Dudek with 7, and Isabelle Judge and Skylar Wolski each with 2.

The game started off physical and low scoring, with a lot of fouls being called on both teams. At the end of the first quarter Wyoming led 9-3. The second quarter was more of the same but with the Blue Devils keeping pace with the Cowboys. The halftime score was 17-11. The biggest concern at that point was that we had committed 12 fouls, and had two players with 3 fouls each.

In the second half, a lot of things started going Wyoming's way. Jamaiica Hurston, Marley Manigault and Crissy Gallick picked up the defensive pressure. Skylar Wolski did a good job filling in for players who were in foul trouble. Isabelle Judge and Emma Postallian started controlling the boards and initiating fast breaks finished by Lauren Metz, Kayla Hampton and Emily Dudek.

The result was Wyoming outscoring Reading 9-0 in the third quarter and 12-4 in the fourth quarter. The biggest change was that we only had two fouls in the second half!

The girls play their next game on Jan. 14th at home with Madeira.

Thanks to Coach King for the report.
