Cowfish Continue Championship Streak

Friday and Saturday, January 11th and 12th, the Middle School Swimming Championships were held in Sycamore (Diving) and Countryside YMCA (Swimming).  Coach Pete sent us the following report.

Wyoming Women  4th 227 pts. (last year 6th)
Wyoming Men       1st 370  pts. - 4th year straight  
Wyoming Team     2nd 717 pts. -Wyoming's best team finish ever!!


The Divers, on Friday, at Sycamore started the Championships with a 5th place finish by Samantha Campbell, a 10th place by Terra Forsyth and a 3rd place finish by Ryan McMichael.  Congratulations to the divers and Thank You to Coach Dave Wolkoff for all the time and effort put into the Wyoming divers!!


The Swimmers, on Saturday, at Countryside started the championship meet off with an exciting come from behind WIN in the 200 yd. Medley relay and finished off the meet with a 200yd. Freestyle relay WIN that almost broke a 1999 Wyoming record.

25yd. Backstroke- Andrew Derge 1st, Daphne Constantinides 6th, Sean Madden 6th.

50yd.Backstroke- Andrew Derge 1st, William Jordan 5th,  Sean Madden 7th.

100yd.Backstroke- William Jordan 2nd, Hannah Stoppenhagen 18th, Abigail Casada 19th.

25yd.Breaststroke- Madelyn Taylor 2nd, Charlie Donnelly 2nd, Sara Derge 10th.

50yd. Breaststroke- Nick Denson 2nd, Charlie Donnelly 4th, Rebecca Prangley 6th

100yd.Breaststroke- Nick Denson 6th, Becca Prangley 6th, Isabella Getgy 21st

25yd.Butterfly- Ben Derge 2nd, Dion Thornton 3rd, Lauren Metz 3rd

50 Butterfly- Lia Thomas 2nd, Gabe Cruz 2nd, Dion Thornton 6th.

100yd. Butterfly- Lia Thomas 4rth, Gabe Cruz 4th, Madelyn Judge 12th

100yd.Individual Medley- Grace Akers 12th, Daphne Constanitinides 24th, Isabella Getgy 26th.
200yd.Freestyle Relay- Philip Brocker, Lia Thomas, Andrew Derge and Carson Burt.-1st
Arthur Cilly, Lauren Metz, Gabe Cruz and Nicholas Denson 12th.


Congratulations to Wyoming's double individual event winners Carson Burt, Philip Brocker and Andrew Derge.  Andrew set a new league record in the 25yd. Backstroke 13.92sec.(old record 13.95 1987)
