The girls volleyball team swept Madeira last night. The JV led off with a quick win and then the varsity followed suit with a 25-23, 14-25, 25-16, 25-18 victory over the previously undefeated (5-0) Amazons. Wyoming's young team now stands at 3-2 as it has had to overcome not just its inexperience but a rash of illness as well.
Coach Plitt commented after the game, "I think the setters and the hitters are finally connecting...I am happy with the improvement but we still have a ways to go! We have to have better passing and defense!!! We can not use the hitter without a good pass to the setter"
Highlights from the game include sophomore Lillian Krekeler's 13 kills, sophomore Kathryn Policastro's 6 kills, senior Sudy Graham's 5 kills and 2 aces (very aggressive serving which was a key in this game) and junior Taylor Weis' 14 assists and 4 aces (again, very aggressive serving). Finally, Wyoming benefited from some big blocks by freshman Tatiyana Ali, sophomore Emily Fraik and Graham.
Next up: at Deer Park on Thursday - JV at 5:30, Varsity at 7 PM
