Varsity Girls Start the Holiday Break with a Win

Saturday, December 22, the Girl's Varsity Basketball hosted the Reading Blue Devils.  With a final score of 47-35 it will be a Blue, Blue Christmas indeed for Reading.  (I know it's a lame reference, but with a name like the Blue Devils, how could I pass it up?).  The Cowboys outscored Reading in every quarter except the last.  Emily Wadds lead the scoring with 18.  (18, for all you mathletes out there is more than half of Reading's 35, just sayin').  She also led in rebounds with 8.  Ashli O'Neal scored 17 (17 is half of Reading's 35, and now I'll stop with the number nonsense).  6 of those were from her 12 Free Throw attempts.  Natalie Burchard brought in 5.  The trio of Morgan Cunningham, Katie Sena, and Kelsey Brunsman each put in 2, and Hailey Stewart finished up the scoring with 1.  After the break, the Girls return to action on January 5th when they travel to Finneytown to deliver a New Year knock-out to the Finneytown squad.

(The above game summary came from strictly from stats found on the CHL website.  Have you noticed the recent game summaries from the Middle School Girls' Basketball.  There are bringing in action verbs, multi-syllable adjectives and adverbs.  I'm not trying to knock my own pathetic, dry-as-toast writing here, but as a matter of pride don't the Varsity Girls deserve writing as good or better than those puny Middle Schoolers?  Hint, this is the part where you say to yourself 'Yes! Yes they do, and I'm going to be the one to send in great write-ups to the Round-Up'.)

Thanks to Arch Cunningham for the pictures.
