Cowboys Can in Canton

From Heather Lethander

Canton Brings a Christmas Record!
11 Men and 11 Women from our team travelled to Canton, Ohio last weekend to compete in the Canton City Schools’ Christmas Invitational. The purpose of travelling to this meet is two-fold. First, it allows our top swimmers to compete against other top programs in the state at the venue where the annual State Championship Meet is held. Second, this is a prelims-finals meet just before the intense Holiday Training portion of the season.
Our top swimmer of the day was Junior Jonathan Rutter who came in 2nd in the 100 Breast with a time of 59.21 and 3rd in the 500 Free with a 4:44.22, breaking the old school record from 2001. Other swimmers competing in the finals were senior, Brennan Burt in the 200 Free. Junior Caroline Duke in the 100 Fly and Sophomore Max Chou in the 100 Fly. The Men’s 200 Medley Relay (Max Chou, Jonathan Rutter, Ian Nyberg, and Brennan Burt) came in 5th place and the Men’s 400 Free Relay (Max Chou, Carson Skidmore, Jonathan Rutter and Brennan Burt) placed 7th.
The Cowboys will be travelling to Dayton this Saturday, Dec. 22nd to compete against Dayton Oakwood at 6 pm. The meet will take place at Beavercreek YMCA and will include diving.
