The Wyoming Swim Team split a pair of decisions to Division I teams at Keating Natatorium on Saturday, Dec. 8th. The women beat McAuley, but the men fell as expected, to St. Xavier and Covington Catholic.
The women won several events against a strong McAuley team. Junior Caroline Duke won a pair of individual events (200 Free and 100 Fly), Junior Cambray Smith won the 500 Free and Freshman Sara Washienko won the 100 Free. Both our Freestyle Relays edged out the competion. The 200 consisted of Duke, Daria Oberholzer, Allison Golden and Washienko while the 400 Relay was Duke, Sarah LeBuhn, Camille Wilson and Washienko.
The Men faced the perennial Division I State Champion and Kentucky powerhouse Covington Catholic and were unable to win a single race. The top performance of the day was a 3rd place finish in the 100 Fly by Max Chou.
The Cowboys will be facing another challenging weekend as they travel to the Canton Christmas Invitational in Canton, Ohio. Many top swimmers in Division I and II from around the state will be competing.
Thanks to Heather Lethander for the report.
