From Heather Lethander
Last weekend, Wyoming Junior, Jonathan Rutter competed at the USA Junior Nationals Championship Meet in Knoxville, TN. Invitations to compete at this level are based on extremely fast qualifying times. The top high school aged swimmers from around the country participate.
Rutter performed very well in several of his events, achieving lifetime best times. His best swim though, took place on the final day of the competition in his personal favorite event, the 200 Breaststroke.
Rutter qualified and finished 7th in the 200 Breaststroke event. His time of 2:01.16 qualifies him for the US Open, the highest USA Swimming Meet, other than Olympic Trials, open to swimmers from around the world.
Should make for an exciting State Meet in February. Although the 200 Breaststroke is not on the competition list for HS swimming, we will be excited to see what Rutter can do in the 100 Breaststroke event at State!
Congratulations Jonathan!
