This evening the Wyoming Boys' Lacrosse Team played its first playoff game, against Miami Valley. Within the first 30 seconds of the game the Cowboys won the faceoff and moved the ball quickly and effectively down the field for a goal. Good passing and stick skills racked up an additional seven goals in the first period which was answered by Miami Valley with one goal. By the end of the first half Wyoming led Miami Valley fourteen to one. The officials of the game required a running clock for the second half as the Cowboys added an additional six goals. Miami added one more goal in the fourth period for a final score of Wyoming 20 – Miami Valley 2.
Austin Hughes led the team with four assists and five goals. David Zanoni and Tyler Hughes had three assists a piece, showing the amount of selfless play among the Cowboys. Tyler Cornelius scored four goals and Will Irwin scored three. James Edwards, Tyler Hughes, David Zanoni, and Harry Meisner each scored two goals a piece. In the loose balls controlled department, Tyler Cornelius led with six, John Colton and Harry Meisner controlled four a piece, and James Edwards, Travis Courtney, Will Irwin, Harrison Wood, and Josh Sagan all picked up three ground balls each. In the fourth period Jack McCaslin took the two first face offs of his career, winning both and batting a thousand for the year. Andrew Tamanko and Jeremy Guttman provided some aggressive defense in the fourth period sucking up two ground balls each and hitting the Miami offense with solid checks.

Thanks to all the fans that came out tonight, especially the #3 fans who certainly cheered the loudest. The next playoff game is scheduled for Saturday against Turpin at Turpin at 1 PM. It will certainly be an action packed game as always as the Cowboys take the road to do battle on another’s field of play.
