Big Ups to the 'Zons

As most of you know, Jane Streeter was hit in the eye by a softball during Wyoming's game on Saturday, April 10th at McNicholas High School (and Jane's folks want you to know that everyone there did a great job in taking care of Jane after the injury).  She had fractures in three different places around her eye.  Initially there was concern that she might lose vision in that eye, but she is now expected to make a full recovery.  Vision loss would have been especially problematic for Jane, as it would likely have disqualified her from attending the United States Air Force Academy, where she is due to report on June 24th.

Shortly after Jane injured her eye, Madeira softball player Gretchen Staubach (All CHL in Volleyball, Basketball and Softball and dubbed by the Streeters as "the Ambassador of Goodwill") stopped by the Streeter house with her parents to deliver a bouquet of flowers and a get well card signed by the entire Madeira 'Zons softball team. According to Jane's dad Stan, "It was an example of the friendships and sportsmanship that occur because of interscholastic athletic competition, and demonstrated one of the reasons why I am such a big fan of the CHL. I thought the comments from Sarah Hammitt, last year’s CHL Softball Player of the Year, who is battling back from knee surgery were truly appreciated. It was obvious the gesture meant a lot to Jane."

For their great show of sportsmanship and compassion, the Roundup would like to offer a Wyoming Cowboys ten gallon hats off to Gretchen and the entire Madeira softball team.
