Boys' lacrosse loses 2nd round playoff game in OT

From our lax-man in the field:
The Wyoming Boys Lacrosse Team took the field at Anderson High School on Saturday, May 22nd to play a second round playoff game. The opponent was the Turpin Spartans who beat the Cowboys in the first game of the season, however today's game was much different. In the first period the Spartans came out shooting and scored four unanswered goals to take the lead. In the second period the Cowboys scored five goals and the Spartans three for a half-time score of Wyoming 5 - Spartans 7. With a never quit determination the Cowboys scored four goals in the third period and defensively held the Spartans to one goal ending the period Wyoming 9 - Spartans 8. The fourth period was a nail-biter as the Spartans scored within three minutes to tie Wyoming and within another two minutes scored again to take the lead. At the six minute mark Wyoming tied the game and Turpin immediately answered to go back up by one. With two minutes and sixteen seconds left in the game Wyoming tied the game and forty-five seconds later scored another goal to take the lead. With 15 seconds left on the clock and the Cowboys leading by one point, the Spartans scored, tying the game and sending it into overtime. In overtime, Turpin won the faceoff, called a timeout and formulated a play. When the whistle blew the Spartans executed flawlessly to win the game. Fans on both sides got their money’s worth and really turned out to cheer on their teams.

Congratulations to the Wyoming Boys Lacrosse Team on a winning season and for taking the tournament to the second round playoffs in style. These young men give great effort in the classroom and conduct themselves in a manner that leads to a positive image of their team, the Wyoming High School, and their families. They prepared themselves to win and honored the game in what has been an outstanding season.

I would like to endorse the fact that this was a great and exciting game.  You're missing out if you're not checking out some lacrosse games.  Watching Tyler Hughes flatten the other team's goalie was easily worth the $6 all by itself.

Congratulations to the coaches and players on a great season.  Best of luck and thanks for the memories to seniors: #3 James Edwards, #5 Daniel Leish, #10 Matt Ames, #16 Matt Fischer, #22 Tyler Hughes, #23 Will Irwin, #25 Nik Tamanko, #33 John Colton and #49 Harry Meisner.

I'd like to send a big thanks to our lacrosse stringer, who I believe wants to remain anonymous.  Great job Kevin Cornelius!
