From Coach White
Wyoming’s Ultimate program capped quite a successful weekend when the co-ed team wrapped up an UNDEFEATED, 8-0 regular season with a 12-10 victory over previously undefeated Clark Montessori. Despite the fact that 10 of the 11 boys on the varsity team participated in the two-day, six-game State tournament on Saturday and Sunday, claiming an amazing third place finish, Wyoming was able to gut out the win over Clark. Trailing 8-6 after the half, Wyoming switched to a match-up zone, with junior Jaden Shapiro shutting down Clark’s interior game to lead a 6-0 run to clinch the win. The Coach was too tired from the State tournament to keep stats, but knows that all four Wyoming girls—sophomore Annmarie Spurling and juniors Catherine Thoms, Bailey Skidmore and Monica Unzueta--had key defensive plays and/or goals, junior Joe White shut down Clark’s long game from the back of the zone, and senior Tim Fitch provided the fresh legs and enthusiasm to help carry the team over the top. The boys were playing on adrenaline alone!
Wyoming will be the top seed in this Saturday’s season-ending tournament, which will feature all 16 teams form the B division of the league, in Gulley Park in Lebanon, and will be seeking its second tournament title in three years
