Romp in Reading

The Goldens reported for the Softball team:

Wyoming visited Deer Park Friday (5/1/15) hoping to play collectively better than their first meeting.  Madeline Juergens was on the mound and surrendered just 3 walks and struck out 2 in 6 innings.  The Wyoming bats had just 4 hits through the first 5 innings with no runs scored.  Erin Campbell (celebrating her 18th birthday), went three for four with a double and a run scored.  Her sister Sammy hit a double in the fifth.  Down 8-1 going into the seventh, Wyoming caused Deer Park some concern after back to back singles by MJ and Reagan Raymer.  Ally Golden’s 2 RBI double scored MJ and Reagan but unfortunately Deer Park managed to end the game without further damage for an 8-3 victory.

It was a much different story Monday (5/4/15) for Reading’s senior night.  Reading, the only CHL team to defeat Deer Park, faced a dominant Wyoming batting squad.  The Cowboys scored 4 runs in the first and 6 runs in the second inning.  Both Campbell sisters (Erin and Sammy) hit triples in the second.  Sammy later added a double and a single on her 3-5 night, driving in 3 runs.  Erin finished 1-3 with two walks and 3 RBIs including a sacrifice fly.  Reagan Raymer and Allison Golden were also 3-5; each hitting a double and Allison scored 3 runs.  The defense also came to play with Olivia Munneke, Michaela Fetter and Reily Boss making four great catches including a diving catch by Olivia to end the 6th inning with two runners on.  Final Score – Wyoming WIN 15-9!
The night was not without some loss.  Although Wyoming won the game they likely lost their catcher, Skylar Wolski due to a sprained ankle sustained while sliding into third (she was safe!)   Initial word is she’s out for at least a week.  We send her positive thoughts that she heals fast!

We have received our draw for the first tournament game… It is Tuesday May 12th against Clermont North East at 5:00 pm!  (See the full bracket HERE)
