Tough Time for Softball

Lisa Golden catches us up with the Softball team:

Wyoming hosted the league leading Deer Park team Wednesday (April 27th).  Reily Boss and Olivia Munneke each had two hits leading an offense that had 8 hits and 5 walks, but could manage only 2 runs in 6 innings.  Meanwhile the defense made some errors and struggled to make the third outs and ended up surrendering 12 runs on 14 hits and 3 walks.  Typical of the day, the Wyoming defense had Deer Park grounding out only 5 times.   In contrast, the one-loss Deer Park scored six runs in the first two innings, all with two outs, and another six in the last two to finish off the Cowboys 12-2.

The following day (Thursday, April 28th), Wyoming visited New Richmond’s all weather field.  The Cowboys were only able to achieve one hit per inning until the 4th inning when Erin Campbell hit a deep single to left center field.  Skylar Wolski then moved Erinto third with her ground ball single followed by Reily Boss’s RBI ground out to score Erin.  Michaela Fetter then was able to bat in Wolski for her 14th RBI of the season.  Michaela by the way is in the top 10 in the league for RBIs.  By the top of the 4th the Cowboys were down 4-2.  After a rough bottom of the 4th, New Richmond scored 7 times, and the Wyoming bats were just not able to make it up.  By the end of the game the final score was a loss, 12-3.
Thanks to Lisa Golden for the report, and
Thanks to Rod Apfelbeck for the great pictures from the Deer Park game.
