The MS boys lacrosse team traveled to Milford on Tuesday April 30 and split two hard fought games, losing the first 7-10, and winning the second 6-3. With Brooks Brunke injured, Grant Mellott played both games making 13 saves in the first game and 11 saves in the second game, for an overall save percentage of sixty-five percent.
In the first game, the Cowboys stayed within one goal until the final minute when Milford pulled ahead with two quick fast breaks. Cole Engel, Alex Thompson, and Connor Yauss each scored two goals, with Nick Denson adding one. Zach Osha was the play maker for the game with three assists, with Cole Engel and Jared Buttelwerth each adding one. Connor Yauss led with 7 ground balls.
In the second game, the Cowboys jumped out to a four goal lead and never trailed. Cole Engel led the scoring with two goals, with Christian Robles, Max Frankel, Jackson Klug, and Jake Tucker each adding one. With outstanding team offense, all goals came with assists from Max Frankel, Christian Robles, Brian Hartmann, Jackson Klug, Joey Knight, and Cole Engel. Declan Dunehew, Cade Barnett, and Brayden Matlin led the team in ground balls.
The Cowboys bring a record of 17-9 into their final home games of the season on Thursday May 2 against Summit and Visitation.
