2nd Half Smack-Down

Coach Crawford sent the following report from the Girls' Lacrosse team's road trip to end the regular season.

In a game of two halves, the Girls HS lacrosse team closed their regular season on a high note with a win over Centerville, 12 to 5. After starting strong leading 3 to 1 early in the first half, the Cowboys saw a determined Centerville team come back to a 4 to 4 tie at the close of the first half. Centerville stormed out early opening the second half to take the lead 4 to 5. But, digging deep and showing their true lacrosse mettle, the Cowboys went on a rant scoring 8 unanswered goals. Freshman Goalie Clare Mellott recorded 6 saves, many in the first half, which had kept the game close as well as the play by her supporting low defense. Scoring was lead by Carly Levick with 4, followed by Becky Denson and Marta Stewart each with 2, and MJ Fischer, Claire Crawford, Adi Smith, and freshman Reilly Simmons recorded 1 goal each. Assists were lead by Maggie Hughes with 3, Claire Crawford with 2, and freshmen Reilly Simmons and Haley Stewart each with 1.

The Cowboys close their regular season with an impressive 11 wins, 4 loss record, as they move into State tournament play with an opening round game at Home next Monday, May 13, game time 7pm against Columbus Bishop Hartley
